Where are undeleted files undeleted to.

I undeleted a file from the recycle bin where the original folder no longer exists. Where did it go. I've tried search the entire c: drive and the search never ends (30 minutes and still searching). I tried searching individual folders and the result was always negative. Where did it go?

W7 home. Samsung RV510 Laptop. Folder options are to show hidden folders.

It should be in originalfolder\file or whatever the original path was.

If you wish you can also use drag & drop to restore files, Open the recycle bin and the folder you wish to restore to and simply drag the File from the bin to the folder (also works with the desktop)

would suggest you use > Recuva < software, from what i gather its pretty good.

Not exactly sure where it TRIED to place it once the original folder has been removed.

I've just tried something ( I'm on Win10 Pro so perhaps someone with access to Win 7 Could try this too)

I created a folder
I created a text file in the folder
I deleted the File
I then Deleted the folder
On opening the Recycle bin there were two entries there - The file and the Folder
I then right clicked the folder in the recycle bin and chose to delete it
This left the recycle bin containing just the Text file
I chose restore in the bin and the file reappeared in the file system where it was originally and inside the original folder

This would lead me to believe that where a containing folder was not available when restoring an object the folder structure would be rebuilt using data held for the source location of the file held in the recycle bin or maybe the file itself

I read something on the net about that but it seems it depends on how complicated the deleted tree structure was.

One can also "copy" [or is it "cut"] a file from within the Recycle Bin and place that file into any existing directory on your internal or external hard-drives.
