Laptop shows splash screen and doesn't boot

It's been a while since the last time I was here. So Hello to eveyone. For some reason, after freezing while trying to download two files on Internet Explorer, my laptop gets stuck on the bios splash screen everytime I try to boot it, and it eventually takes me to this boot/app menu. Pressing Windows Boot Manager or F11 Recovery doesn't do anything and just brings me back here. Setup takes me to the UEFI setup menu. All the settings seem to be completely fine, although the HDD Security menu does say no hdd detected. Should I try making a Windows Recovery USB on a different computer and try booting off of that? Or should I try opening the laptop and reseating the SSD? (It wouldn't be easy though, because it's an ultrabook-like laptop)

Sounds like dead he try reseating if it's not seen in the BIOS it dead or getting no power

I suggest that you make a Linux Live DVD and then boot from it into Linux. (Doing this won't install anything on your hard drive.) If the SSD works fine in Linux, then the problem has to be in Windows. However, if it's a bad drive (or maybe a bad cable), then it won't work in Linux or in Windows.

To create a Linux Live DVD, go to the following website and click on one of the links. This will download an ISO file to your hard drive. Then create a DVD from that ISO file.

samuria I'm afraid of opening up the laptop though, especially because it's a ultrabook-like laptop, so I'll try doing that if nothing else works.
mrjimphelps Does that work on USBs? Also, would making a Windows Recovery Drive work?

If you make a Recovery Drive on a different PC, it will not work on yours. == Go here Starting with the rescue CD and make a Macrium Rescue CD as it tells you. This will boot your PC if it is a Windows 7 problem. If it is a hardware problem, then you can take a different attack to the problem.

You can create a bootable USB flash drive from the Linux ISO file, rather than a bootable DVD, and then boot with the flash drive into Linux Live, if you prefer.

I'm not very familiar with Windows Recovery Drive.
