How can I add diagonal lines like this?

Using Word 2010, how can I add diagonal lines to mark the correct timing for chords in a chord sheet, as shown in the chord markings in this image?


Also: What's the easiest method of adding vertical lines as shown in the left side of the image?

Only thing I can think of is the equation editor but it would still be a lot of work, you would be better off looking for an opensource editor for chord sheet creation as it's a specialist task which is more of a pasteboard system than conventional word processing


OpenSong may be worth a look for ideas, I think it's a linux app but may have a windows equivalent

You may need to look at specialised music writing software to do what you want. Is this website any help for you

Or any graphics program would do it. I would use Photoshop and the vertical lines and diagonal lines would be on their own layers. But more basic picture editing or graphics apps can be used.

I use LibreOffice to perform such graphics. The trick is to zoom in 200% first, create the desired diagonal, colour it, and then Copy the result to the clipboard so you can use the same shape diagonal again and again.
