Hi folks,

About to try a reinstall which will be a shame because I have this PC set up with lots of audio and video software. Any ideas of an altenative rescue? The windows logo stays up for half a minute then reboots, safe mode works. HP 6200 SFF with Windows 7 Pro SP1 64bit. Hard disk passes all the various scans with no errors. Here is the start of the log:

What is the method that you are using to open safe mode?
Can you reliably boot into safe mode?

If you can there are commands that can be run in safe mode for the troubleshooting.
If you cannot had you tried using a Windows 7 iso?

F8 pressed right at startup before Windows starts to load takes me to the boot options to choose safe mode with networking (etc) which is what got me here in safe mode. Yes safe mode seems to work as usual.

I tried using a Windows 7 ISO to recover the system but it was unable to repair it.

As far as I remember it gave the results:

thinking of uninstalling these three intel programs (in the pic) seeing all the failures seem to involve intel

I uninstalled the Intel HD Graphics Driver then rebooted. Still failed. BUT the log now looks different at the end: Then once into safe mode again it automatically installed a graphics driver.

1) Perform the following steps
2) Run the DM log collector in safe mode and post a zip into this thread
Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions - Windows 7 Help Forums
3) Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:
4) sfc /scannow
5) chkdsk /scan
6) When these have completed > right click on the top bar or title bar of the administrative command prompt box > left click on edit then select all > right click on the top bar again > left click on edit then copy > paste into the thread
7) msconfig (in the pop up system configuration > move the dot from normal startup to selective startup > uncheck load startup items > click service tab > in left lower corner check hide all Microsoft services > in the lower right side click disable all > click apply or ok > do not reboot)

8) taskmgr (in the pop up task manager > click on the start up tab > click on status so that the column sorts with enable rising to the top > right click on each row with enable and change to disable)

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/929135/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows

9) shutdown /r (you will reboot the computer so that it is in clean boot)

10) Evaluate the performance on your computer in clean boot during typical use.
11) Are you able to boot using clean boot instead of safe mode?
12) Are the boots faster or slower?
13) Are the shutdowns faster or slower?
14) How has the video performance changed? Is it better, worse, or the same?
15) How has audio performance changed? Is it better, worse, or the same?
16) Continue using clean boot indefinitely to monitor performance.

Thank you Zbook. As it were I seem to have fixed the problem by uninstalling the intel driver package "SDK for OpenCL - CPU Only Runtime Package"

On reboot the system loaded but without sound drivers and just generic graphic drivers. Now I will see about installing the latest drivers from the HP website and see if I can get sound and everything going.

But windows boots up now fine, and fast!

Thanks for your tips. If need be I will come back to them!
