I'm gonna be installing it on ssd, so USB stick with ntfs format will work ? Thanks

No, you don't need to do that, and you don't need to use Daemon tools for any of this!

To make it easier, you could just download [to the desktop] and run this utility which will remove the ei.cfg file from the sources folder automatically: eicfg_removal_utility.zip

Quick update: thanks again to Paul, install worked great and my 8yr old laptop now feels like a brand new one with Ssd on it along with win 7 posting this on my birthday today heh

Hi. I downloaded the iso but the option to delete or rename the ei.cfg file doesn't appear with right click. Has it already been removed? Looks like a blank (white) file?

Sounds like the download didn't complete properly. If the iso has been fully downloaded, it should appear in windows 7 as a little siver disc icon. like this:

Dism++ is a program that will decide what updates you need, minus the telemetry and forced updates for Win 10, then oversee the installation. I used it on a Win7 Repair Install, and it saved me loads of time, aggravation and energy. SIW2 told me about it.

An OEM [Original Equipment Manufacturer] license is what Dell, HP, Lenovo, Toshiba etc, use. If it is an OEM then it has probably got a Factory Reset recovery/restore partition.

Basically, OEM comes from the manufacturer. COEM comes from a person/business who builds to the manufacturer's specification.

Yes, DISM++ is an excellent way to quickly update [Windows Updates] the OS on both the OFFLINE OS or the LIVE OS..

DISM++ - Basic Overview

DISM++ is a FREE implementation tool that has the ability to perform Windows Updates [WU]. Some of the advantages [but not all] are:

[1] The GUI is very easy to understand and use.
[2] It is much faster than M$’s WU because it uses a different engine.
[3] It downloads the DB from M$, scans your OS, and then lists the updates available.
[4] It gives you the option of what you want to install.
[5] The pre-ticked updates is what is recommended - similar to the WU critical and recommended updates as opposed to the un-ticked updates which is similar to WU optional.
[6] It doesn’t install superseded updates like M$ does.
[7] It warns you if an update includes telemetry, if it has known issues with certain hardware, if it needs exclusive access, if it is suspect, or if it has any other known issues.
[8] It doesn’t require re-booting between updates.
[9] It can be used to either update an install.wim image OFFLINE, or to update the LIVE OS.

The DISM++ database gets updated every so often. Just go to the website and check what the latest version is. At the moment it is version 10.1.1000.80 (2018-08-20). That's why when I post my procedure, I always say at the end to run M$ WU to see if there are any other updates available. Of course, you can always wait for the new version of the DISM++ database to be released.

Yes. It checks the MS servers to see if there is a new update database for windows.

Also, if there is a new version of dism++ it should update itself automatically

You can download the latest and last Windows [Final] > Windows 7 SP1 [build 7601] > Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 ISO [build 6.1.7601 - July 2009] file from TechBench [make sure you select the correct language and bit type]. It is recommended that you download the Win 7 Ultimate SP1 ISO because all versions of Win 7 can be made available from it. This is achieved by creating a folder on the desktop and then unzipping the ISO into it using 7-Zip, and then delete the ei.cfg file in the sources folder. Alternatively, you can run the eicfg_removal_utility against the downloaded ISO. If the version of Windows you are installing is Windows 7 SP1 Ultimate, then there is NO need to remove the ei.cfg file as instructed above.

I just checked Techbench and you are still able to download the latest and last Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 ISO.

If it is another version of Win 7 that you are after, then download the Windows [Final] > Windows 7 SP1 [build 7601] > Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 ISO [build 6.1.7601 - July 2009] file from TechBench [make sure you select the correct language and bit type]. To make ALL the Win 7 versions available, create a folder on the desktop, unzip the ISO into it using 7-Zip, and delete the ei.cfg file in the sources folder. Alternatively, you can run the eicfg_removal_utility against the downloaded ISO. If the version of Windows that you want is Windows 7 SP1 Ultimate, then there is NO need to remove the ei.cfg file.
