re: extending time that win close box stays on screen
This is on my Dell Inspiron 15-3541 laptop.
In the Win7 box bellow that comes up win Win7 is shutting down. I am looking for 2 things.
1st. How do I make that box come up when Windows isn't waiting for a prog to shutdown?
It is a simple change in the Win reg file. I can't find the hard copy of the instructions and
I lost that file on the last D: HDD crash. It is a dumb mistake on my part. I ignored the
Windows warring box's saying "save all files and re-format the D: HDD" until it was to late.
I was only able to recover about 1/3rd of what was on the (half full) 500gb HDD that I already
saved to CD's and DVD's.
2nd. How do I extend the time that the box stays up.
My reason for this is, sometimes, not very much, when I am shutting down the laptop to, mostly, go to bed. I suddenly I remember something that needs to be done. I can hit the cancle box and override the shutdown rather then wait for the laptop to shutdown and then re-start/boot up the laptop again.
Waiting for background programs to close.

To close the program that is preventing Windows from
shutting down, click Cancle, and then close the program.
