Solved I want to choose between these two workstations...

I am about to buy a refurbished workstation and I want to choose between
two of them.

Here are the specs:

Workstation 1
Processor: Intel® Xeon® Processor E3-1220 v3 8M Cache, 3.10 GHz
Hard disk: 256GB SSD
Graphics card: NVIDIA Quadro Κ2000
Memory: 16GB
Networking: Integrated Intel 82579 Gigabit Ethernet controller with Remote Wake UP, PXE and Jumbo frames support
OS: Windows 7 Pro Gr

Workstation 2
Processor: Intel® Xeon® Processor E5-2670 20M Cache, 2.60 GHz, 8.00 GT/s Intel® QPI
Hard disk: 250gb
Graphics card: NVIDIA Quadro Κ2000
Memory: 16GB
Networking: Ethernet
OS: No OS Installed - FreeDos Win7P COA

The price is the same for both of them.

You can compare online benchmark results of the two CPUs at Intel Xeon E5-2670 v3 vs E5-2670, and decide which is better before you buy.

Hey iko22, problem is, the first computer has an E3-1200v3

Ignoring performance issues (he hasn't answered Paul' question yet), I would take the first one simply because it has the OS installed. I guess the second one has a COA but is he going to install a retail version of Windows on it?

Thanks Wither2 for noticing that! Some detail was lost in Web Search, sorry for that. It would appear that an E3-1200 v3 does not exist, or has been wrongly quoted. Hi! I will be using it for 3d modeling design and 3d rendering.

I would probably go for the first one as it has an SSD, which is much quicker that a normal HDD!

Intel Xeon E3-1220 v3

Work horse: Rates higher in "Average CPU Mark" but a little slower per Core. "Overall Rank: 214"
Intel Xeon E5-2670

I would go with the one that has the best "Overall Rank", but I don't have the workload that you do. Only you know how much work load you have.

Now I bought Intel Xeon E5-2670. I hope it proves to be ok.
Going to start a new thread on how to install windows 7 because it comes with a Windows 7 Pro COA.
