Happy Birthday Win 7 !

Emotional about a computer os ? It seems completely ridiculous! But I certainly am...I bought my Lenovo ThinkPad way back in 2008 (Vista installed). I installed Windows 7 Ultimate in 2009 and it has been rock solid and problem free. I reinstall the os and other software about twice a year to keep everything running smoothly.
So I have had 10 years of using 7 without any major problems. I am really sorry to know that support for it stops in a few months time. I have other laptops with 8.1 and 10 installed but in the main I still use my 7 computer.
I have tried various linux distros over the last two years or so but I always end up disappointed with these. Anyone else feeling sad about losing 7?

I've been in It as a pro for around 40 years give or take, very early on I decided that I liked a new OS and the challenges it brought more than keeping an old OS for nostalgia's sake. nothing wrong with older Operating systems but there are advances in hardware and software needs over time, and the OS needs to grow with them. If I want to check an issue that needs to be checked in a specific OS then I can simple load it into a Virtual Machine, and set the VM to a hardware spec that matches the original setup. I've played with Linux, I've messed about with custom skins and looks, but in the end have come to a system that all the changes I need are there in the settings of the OS, and these rarely cause issues with the OS like custom builds do

Belated birthday greetings to Win 7. Here's how my history goes - XP was fairly new in the market when I was purchasing my first PC. I wanted 98, as there was a game I was addicted in playstation centers & computers - it didn't support XP. But dad got XP, never regretted - was one of the best OS.

Created partition with WIN98 to play the game, had to buy audio drivers suitable for 98, as XP drivers wouldn't recognize in 98.

Fast forward, I was without PC/Laptop for around 8-9 yrs, was using cybercafes most of them had XP very few had ME & Vista.

Again I was in market for laptop this time, Windows 7 was the latest available release & I didn't have any intention of going to older version - so here I'm - even disabled MS "Free Upgrade to Win 10".

I intend to continue with win7 after next Jan. It is just too good to let go...I keep checking back to this forum for information on security etc. Not a great fan of linux but elementary os has caught my eye.

I must say windows seven will live "forever" but the reality is that the new hardware won't support it

Nearly 6 years after end of support i'm still running my Windows XP SP3.. it is a slow OS but it can handle some of the tasks i need to do aside my Windows 7. Things will be the same for my actual main OS and i'm expecting using it at least for the next 3 years..it is a long birthday i recon for some hurry geeks dying for faster and modern styled technology. I'm on low life profile dancing slow motion to land. Am I ecological retrograde guy?..aha...That doesn't mean i will not do something about computing 'cause these days it's needed.
