Copied my folders onto a 2tb stick & some have gone help needed please

Hi there people
I copied 116 folders onto a 2tb stick and the majority some have gone.
This is what I did.
I inserted the 2tb stick it was recognised.
I got up the folder named by me "Ready to Move" that I wanted to copy i.e. where all these folders resided.
I copied one as a test (which had word documents) and pasted it into the 2tb drive I then checked the drive for the copied folder and made sure that the contents remain intact and they were.
I copied one as a test (which had PDF documents) and pasted it into the 2tb drive I then checked the drive for the copied folder and made sure that the contents remain intact and they were.
I copied one as a test (which had some images) and pasted it into the 2tb drive I then checked the drive for the copied folder and made sure that the contents remain intact and they were.
I copied one as a test (which had music files) and pasted it into the 2tb drive I then checked the drive for the copied folder and made sure that the contents remain intact and they were, i.e. I listened to one and it played ok
I copied one as a test (which had some short videos anything from 5 minutes to 15 minutes) and pasted it into the 2tb drive I then checked the drive for the copied folder and made sure that the contents remain intact and they were.
So as far as I was concerned if I could read Word, PDF, view an image, listen to music and watch a short video I was good to go.
Which is exactly what did.
The originals have now gone, please see my other thread regarding BSOD, so even if I could do system restore it would help because they were wiped totally.
Properties

The 2tb disk properties are as follows
File system exFAT
Used space 61,774,757,888 bytes 57.5GB
Free space 2,035,348,930,560 bytes 1.85 TB
Capacity 2,097,123,688,488 bytes 1.90 TB
Sharing tab

>
>
As a final piece help for you to understand Please see the attached images.

D: drive is what my 2tb looks like, as you can imagine I have edited the majority of the folder names for personal reasons.
Something that I know is in there is "Shrink_pic"
The first image shows me trying as "Administrator"
The second image shows me as I "double click"
>
Just in case you are wondering how I managed to do it I got the "Shrink_pic" I have another drive, but it is available on tinternet just type "Shrink_pic" in Google.
>

Any suggestions would be very helpful please

"...How wrong I was..." I commiserate with you; I understand what it feels like when something goes very wrong and great stuff disappears! That's why I have numerous backups, each laptop has two ext USB 1TB HDDs assigned to it, each 1TB HDD contains at least two OS partition full images, and one data partition full image. And, investigate that 2TB stick, I'm wondering if the source sold you a lemon.

Big chances it's fake.
I had seen many fake USB flash disks. I bought a 64G stick that was in fact only 4G.
Download and run h2testw
Its in German, but you can set it to English.
-Format the drive as exfat or NTFS and run h2testw
It will write files to the flash disk then read.

Edit:
You can set it to test 64G (and it will take a day)

What probably happened is that the stick, upon reaching the real byte size limit, simply rolled back to the beginning and replaced what was there with the new stuff, over and over. I think the largest legit stick is 256GB?

Hi there People
Thanks for getting back to me.

I can’t format the drive because it still has the remnants of my 2tb HDD suchas it is.

What probably happened is that the stick, upon reaching the real byte size limit, simply rolled back to the beginning and replaced what was there with the new stuff, over and over. I think the largest legit stick is 256GB?

Properties
General tab
The 2tb disk properties are as follows
File system exFAT

Free space 2,035,348,930,560 bytes 1.85 TB
Capacity 2,097,123,688,488 bytes 1.90 TB

As seen in my opening thread
Sorry I must be missing something here and I really would like someclarification / instruction / advice on the following;
“How to find the capacity / size/ contents / free space / used space”
I was always been under the assumption that it was “right click > >>properties” etc.
That’s how I have always done it, and that's how I obtained the above detailsof the 2tb stick
What I would really like to do as seen in my opening post is find the worddocuments, PDF documents, some images, some music filesand finally some short videos
Now the various folders that I testedthe remaining has just disappeared if you look at the image that I havesupplied it is haphazard some have copied/ shown up and some haven’t
As case in point is a series of films

SE
>>BU COPIED there are files there
SE
>> BU COPIED there are filesthere
SE BLANK /EMPTY
SE
TEMPS BLANK /EMPTY
Just see the image
So how can I copy some but not others in the same folder

If it is a fake with only 16 or at best 32 GB on it, as stated earlier, your stuff got rolled over on top the oldest stuff, new stuff overwrote old stuff, over and over and over. Run that German test, in English of course, and report back.

So I went ahead and ran the test.

First I read the readme txt doc

The executable file H2testw.exe needs no installation and can be
directly run. It was developed for Windows XP and Vista. It should
also work under Windows 2000 but was only tested on XP and Vista.
Windows 9x/ME is not supported.
H2testw writes files of up to 1 GByte to the chosen destination and
names them 1.h2w, 2.h2w, 3.h2w and so on.

As you are aware I am running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit but I thought "in it for a penny in it for a pound"

It told that it was going to take 42 days to complete.

So once again I look at the drive and the properties etc. and removed 3 items tested these three items to make sure that they were OK.
I then formatted the drive.

The software didn't like that, came back with the following;

Warning: Only 61 of 1999973 MByte tested.
Test finished without errors.
Reading speed: 15.6 MByte/s
H2testw v1.4

Have you noticed that the drive capacities have not changed hence it looks like a genuine 2tb stick

There is a 62kb document left on the drive but I don't have the means to open it.
If you can supply with some information as to how I can view it that would be helpful.

I have just undertaken a Google search and the first hit was ;

The H2W file which is being opened is infected with an undesirable malware. The computer does not have enough hardware resources to cope with the opening of the H2W file.

The second sentence does not apply

Kingston recently came out with a 2TB USB stick although it's more like a log than a stick. It's physically ginormous and costs well north of $2k. I've seen reports lately of bogus 2TB sticks being sold. See the links below for more info:

How much did you pay for the stick? Ebay is scrupulous about scams. Tell them first, but I don't think Chinese companies are subject to the BBB's standards, or care about the BBB.

I had some films I was storing on my D drive, because I kept putting off buying DVD-R's. When I moved into this computer, I transferred all my data from the old one. Now it's 3 years later, and I have some time to burn the movies. Oops, that folder never made the trip to either of my current machines. So I know how you feel.

With reference to your first sentence can you please elaborate !
£3.58 OR $4.63

I strongly sympathize with you because as far as I was concerned I had tested ALL the various formats and they all worked and I used the 2tb stick just for that testing purpose.
I tried ran h2testw but as you can see by my previous post that just wasn't going to run.
So in the end I have bit the bullet and formatted the drive.
But what I am going to do is back in touch, its not about the money more about the data that I have lost thank god none of the was my music which sat safely above my head in the cloud.
Plus various other items went to spare Kingston 60gb and 240gb but of which I have used before with any loss of data.
Just in case you are wondering that price if for ONE stick

Whoever wrote that article doesn't know the difference between memory and storage space. But their heart is in the right place...

Actually, storage is memory (kinda sorta although storage is rarely referred to a being memory. In this case, it's non-volatile memory instead of volatile memory, such as RAM. Both the video and the article are accurate, especially when it comes to the fake 2TB USB sticks..

...
Just in case you are wondering that price if for ONE stick

At that price, you definitely got ripped off, not to mention there is no way current technology could come close to fitting 2TB of RAM into a stick that small. Just look at what a monster a legitimate Kingston 2TB USB stick is.

https://www.kingston.com/us/usb-flash-drives/datatraveler-ultimate-gt-usb-flash-drive?Capacity=2TB

Also note how expensive the legitimate ones are. You can't even buy reliable USB flash drives that have far less capacity for the price you paid.

What you got is clearly a fake; it's as phony as a $4 dollar bill. Places like Fleabay, Amazon, Alibaba, etc. are littered with these phonies. You can reformat that piece of janky junk 'til the cows come home and it's still not going to hold 2TB of data.

I respectfully would have thought that it might sound better like this;

When you are talking about computer Memory this is the location of short-term data,
R.A.M Random Access Memory
N.V.M Non Volatile Memory
Now when we talk aboutstorage in your computer or outside your computer, i.e. a caddy this allows youwrite to the storage commonly known as a H.D.D (Hard Disk Drive) they usuallycome in several formats platter (spinning disks) Solid State S.S.D., M.2 then we have NVMe (not to be confused with N.V.M)

At that price, you definitely got rippedoff, not to mention there is no way current technology could come close tofitting 2TB of RAM into a stick that small. Just look at what a monster alegitimate Kingston 2TB USB stick is.

Went to the site and watched the shortvideo
I think I will now stick with S.S.D fortransferring data

Hi sheffieldyorky,

I have just quickly looked at the last few posts. If you right-click the drive => select Properties => Disk Cleanup, does it show any Files to delete. I just thought that if it did it would give you some space back to perform some tasks that you said couldn't be performed because of low disk space!

I hope this helps!

Please see the attachments reference "Disk Cleanup"

I was advised by Megahertz

Download and run h2testw
Its in German, but you can set it to English.
-Format the drive as exfat or NTFS and run h2testw
It will write files to the flash disk then read.

Which I did

So I went ahead and ran the test.

First I read the readme txt doc

The executable file H2testw.exe needs no installation and can be
directly run. It was developed for Windows XP and Vista. It should
also work under Windows 2000 but was only tested on XP and Vista.
Windows 9x/ME is not supported.
H2testw writes files of up to 1 GByte to the chosen destination and
names them 1.h2w, 2.h2w, 3.h2w and so on.

As you are aware I am running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit but I thought"in it for a penny in it for a pound"

It told that it was going to take 42 days to complete.

So once again I look at the drive and the properties etc. and removed 3 itemstested these three items to make sure that they were OK.
I then formatted the drive.

To be totally honest I'm going to mark this as solved and let everybody get on with their life.
As a footnote I have sent a complaint off to the Chinese website whether it will do any good or not I don't know.
But for the sake of £3.50 ( $4.53 ) I will not hold my breath.
But as a final thought many thanks one and all who have contributed to my thread.
Lesson learned I will now back up my C:\

There is nothing wrong with the H2testw.exe and it can be used in Win xp, vista , 7, 8.x and 10.
You tested only 61M out of 1999973 MByte. Of course it didn't find any errors.
You should set it to run at least 64G. It will take a day.

Hi there
Thanks for the reply.
As earlier quoted by me "It told that it was going to take 42 days to complete"
That's why I stopped it,
Besides I had already formatted the 2tb HDD, installed the donor drive got off what needed.
But I fell foul of the "supposedly 2tb stick" as seen earlier on in this thread.
If I could bottle / can "hindsight" I would be . . . . . . . . . . .:cool::cool::cool: on a beach.
A comprehensive email has gone off to the Customer Services in China I told them I am not bothered about a refund I just want a returns label and let them find out the cause.
