Hi all,

Hope someone can help me.

I just recently reinstalled windows, mainly because of the problems i am still facing so hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.

So i have a fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, i haven't installed much, My AV (Kaspersky IS) Nvidia Drivers, 2 Windows Updates (KB4474419 and KB4490628) because Nvidia asked for them and Firefox. I have already had two BSOD's,

I remember the main error text bits were as follows :

One was "Page_fault_in_non_paged_area" and the other one was "irql_not_less_than_equal"

Any help is most greatly appreciated.

Did the clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit include Service Pack 1?

Are you familiar with Simplix Update Pack?

My apologies for not including that info, it did include SP1. I am not familiar with that pack. I haven't even loaded all the drivers on the machine yet.

You should do everything in this order:

1. Do a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit.

2. Obtain and run Simplix Update Pack 20.6.11
(Note: click one of the MajorGeeks download links)
All of the updates will install in 3 separate groups and take about an hour to complete.

3. Install the necessary drivers for your computers primary devices.

4. Establish an internet connection and then activate the operating system.

I don't want to seem too lazy, but is there no way to resolve by updating at this point? do i absolutely have to reload? I can do it, but would like to avoid unless absolutely necessary.

Also out of curiosity do you know what could be causing those particular BSOD's? i know you are helping me correct them, but was just curious what the cause was.

For that pack fix you say i should go with the MajorGeek version, which is Simplix UpdatePack 7 20.6.11 a nd not the original mega link you posted which gives the file UpdatePack7R2-20.6.20?

Finally, and i know i am being a pain now, for Device Drivers, there are so many on the Manufacturer Page for my motherboard, anyway you can help me select which exactly i should get?

TIA you have been so helpful.

Considering all the problems you're currently having, my advice is to start over from scratch.

If the Simplix download link is providing version 20.6.20 instead of version 20.6.11 of the update pack, that's even better.

There's no way that I can advise you which device drivers you need because I don't know what hardware your computer has and which devices it has.

The chipset, graphics(VGA), audio, ethernet(LAN), wireless, etc. for Windows 7 64-bit are the primary drivers you probably need.

Per the steps I gave you in post #4:
I just finished completing them in a Dell OptiPlex 980 minitower after doing a clean install of Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit.
The entire process took about 3 hours.

So for the Simplix download, just confirm do i use the mega link you provided in Post #2, or the MajorGeeks?

It's difficult to say without any more analysis of crash dumps, but the easy things to try is to first update the video drivers (often a common source of BSODs) and remove your antivirus (another very common source of BSODs and security issues).

If those don't stop the problems, a hardware issue would be the next thing to rule out.

Reinstalling again wouldn't be a good idea here, as the computer has been just reinstalled, so the culprit is likely one of the few installs already done, or a defective PC. Windows updates aren't necesary at this instance and won't help in the issue (may even potentially make it worse).

Quick update, had another Blue Screen today, this time it was "SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION"

You have only installed updates and drivers - no programs, is that correct

From your post it seems you ran simplix, which probabaly did a couple of reboots and cleanup.

Did you have bsod after running simplix, or only after installing drivers?

I had installed a few programs as it had seemed to be working okay, it's hard to tell because the BSOD happens at such random intervals, although i have only had it once since reinstalling.

I did the following in this order.
1) Fresh Install of Windows 7 Ultimate x64 with SP1
2) i Ran Simplix UpdatePack7R2-20.6.11
3) Installed Manufacturer Drivers for Motherboard and Nvidia Driver
4) Activated Windows
5) Because everything seemed to be going okay, i installed some software (View 1 Attached Image)

After this, i was just browsing the net when i suffered the BSOD.

Also, after Using Simplix there were some updates in the Windows update center, not sure if i should do them or not? (View 2nd attached image)

Edit : Okay i got a new BSOD this time it was nvlddmkm.sys, this makes me think it's something to do with the Nvidia drivers, could all the other BSOD's be linked to this as well? if it is Nvidia drivers what do i do?

That is what I was getting at with my previous post.

Looks like the nvidia drivers might be the issue. Are they the recommended drivers for your hardware?

1. Uninstall them and run it for a while. If no bsods, then probably the problem was the nvidia drivers.

2. Then check windows update - it might offer you the nvidia drivers MS thinks are best for your system.

3. From your screenshot of WU, you will probably want defender updates as there are new ones often. You also might want net framework 4.8 ( and any subsequent updates to net frame 4.8 ). That is not included in Simplix because it is optional. The rest of them, you can rt click and hide.

NVIDIA driver version 451.48 was released yesterday.
Select the option to do a clean installation of the new version instead of updating over the old version.
See if that helps.

I just downloaded the latest drivers that it said were appropriate from the Nvidia website.

Apologies to all for late reply, IRL drama got hectic recently, only just managed to start trying to figure out this issue again. Tried several different NVIDIA drivers, still getting BSOD, even without any NVIDIA driver installed. So not that.
I recently got whocrashed and have generated the analysis. I am posting it here in the hopes someone can help me.

Edit: Today i started the computer and it told me i had installed a new CPU, although i haven't.
