Hello,

I am facing some issues while gaming,my PC freezes while I am gaming, and becomes so unresponsive that I have to restart by manually pressing of the reset button on the PC case.

I don't get BSODs,but I have minidumps.

Here you are the dm log collector in the attachment.

I also get this error frequently :
''Nvidia kernel mode driver has stopped responding and has successfully recovered.''

Please help me.

Thanks to all in advance.

In regards to the second problem (NVIDIA kernel..........), are you using Firefox as your browser and is it up to date?

I was asking about Firefox because this was a known problem with it and it supposedly was fixed by updates. I'm using an older version of it on my Vista system but the last update to it seemed to solve it except it does show up on occasion. On my Win 7 system, I use IE 11 and don't get that problem. I suggest using IE 11 or another browser as your default for a while to see if the problem persists.

In regards to the gaming problem, the error cause seems to be hardware related. I'm really surprised that no one else, with more knowledge than I have, hasn't attempted to help you with it. It's even more surprising that you're not getting a BSOD.

Thank you very much!

Could you tell me how do I test the hardware for errors please?

And what is your opinion about the faulty hardware, which hardware part is failing according to you?

The logs don't indicate a specific cause for the error code. I'm guessing it's your GPU. Have you looked at the hardware specs for the game (s) that freeze your system?

The game is NBA 2K9, and the GPU's requirements for that game are : NVIDIA GeForce 6600 or ATI Radeon X1300

My GPU is Zotac Nvidia GT 520 Zone Edition 1 GB DDR3.
I have also slightly overclocked it :995 MHz for the core and 885 MHz for the memory clock, (I got that idea for using of that values by reading the following article:

ZOTAC GeForce GT 520 1 GB Review | TechPowerUp

This GPU is a fanless edition, but I have added a 120 mm case fan to it.

I've also installed the latest driver for it : v.391.35

I've overclocked it via Zotac Firestorm ,an overclocking utility for Zotac GPUs.

I didn't look for it again tonight but one article I was reading about system freezing while gaming suggested removing the overclock as one of the means of stopping the freezing. I think overheating was the reason. You might install the CPUID HWMonitor to check the GPU and CPU temperatures. One thing I noticed is that you have FPS Monitor installed. One article mentions that it overrides the controls that some laptops have to prevent overheating of the CPU even though it's intent is to monitor frame rates.

I removed the Zotac Firestorm GPU OC utility, and overclocked the GPU with MSI Afterburner and it is working way better. No freezing so far.

If the PC freezes again I'll report.

Interesting that changing the over-clocking software made a difference.
