Solved W7 reports that it cannot create a System Repair Disc, files not on PC

The files it uses should be found either in the hidden and protected C:\Recovery folder, or possibly in a separate Recovery partition. in particular it needs the WinRE.wim recovery environment image. If it cannot find WinRE.wim in either location then to make the system repair disk it would need to copy WinRE.wim from the install disks.

Open a command prompt (Admin) and type the command reagentc /info to tell you if your recovery environment is enabled, and if so on which disk, partition and folder it is located. Disk Management can show you the partitions, so you'll be able to see if it's pointing to the C: partition or a recovery partition.

If your WinRE.wim is missing and you don't have install disks, then @SIW2 may be able to help fix it....
