Hello group. I would like to know why my internet is really slow and takes ages to load a page. Is there any test to see if it is my ISP's problem (Internet speed) or if it is anything i am doing wrong....Also some pages do not open at all or take more than 5 mins to open for example HP Smart.

If you do know how to fix this please do let me know.

Who is your ISP? My (Spectrum) ISP does have a an app for checking the up/down speeds.

I'm not sure what the point of your screenshot is meant to show but it clearly shows that you need to clean out your inbox. Also, it seems that you need to adjust the spam filter in Outlook.

Do you have your browser set to remove temporary files when it closes?

Go to Accessories, System Tools. Run the Disk Cleanup utility. When it says how much space it can save, make sure the boxes for Temporary Files and Recycle Bin are checkmarked. After it runs, reboot. If you have an SSD for C:\ drive, run the Trim function.

Does any of that help?

Background security and monitoring programs can affect overall speed and performance. Browser extensions' activities ditto.

You have a lot of threads already on network issues. I already replied to this thread.

Thanks for the heads-up. I didn't know that but, since I was ignorant of it, maybe I gave him some new things to look at, maybe not.

Why would you save nearly 23,000 e-mails, many which appear to be spam. If I remember correctly, Outlook, like Windows Mail stores all e-mail on the hard drive. It's the primary reason I won't use it.

Thanks. I've been using the same ISP for 16 years. Costs me a few bucks a month but it works well and its spam filter is really good.

The point of my screenshot was to show you guys the little squares next to the words.....It is an old email address that is why i have a lot of letters I don't really use it but i have some gaming accounts linked to that email address....

I found this for the speed test- TVCabo Speed Test, TVCabo Internet Speed Test

I don't know what the squares mean other than possibly to check mark and then delete everything for that item. The others here who use Outlook can clue you in on that one.

I still would do the cleanups I mentioned even though it will be tedious.

That's terrible. Did that well 16 years ago when I was using a dial-up connection. Are you connecting directly to a cable modem or getting your signal via router?

When you say terrible you mean my internet is slow??
I am using both a router and a modem. The internet is both slow via Wi-fi and by using ethernet cable...

Yes. Your times are extremely slow for cable. Do you know what you're supposed to be getting? You might reboot the modem to see if it makes a difference. Sometimes wi-fi times are slow because the router signal is blocked by doors, walls, etc. but you said it's that slow by ethernet connection.
