Hi all.
I just tried to install win7 on an asus laptop.
It all goes smoothly until it reboots after i have conntected to my wireless.
It all seems to work great. It loads like a normal boot, then i get a screen with the error: Can not open file: c:\RECOVERY.DAT

ERROR

The error word is written on big red letters.

Have anyone got anything to suggest here?
I can press any button and nothing happens.

I cant even start in safemode.
I get the same error.

Thanks in advance for any help you all can give me.

Laffe

You have a recovery partition from the manufacturer causing errors.

I never had a pc with one of those or your error. I have thoughts on how to proceed but best left to someone that knows for sure. Good luck.

I would like to know what model your laptop is and also how did you try to install Windows 7, was it an upgrade or a full version, and if full version then which partition.

That's great. Now, put that in your system specs.

That's weird, I didn't delete that partition on my Asus laptop and it worked, and works even better than Vista (mainly because of the video card driver problem I had).

You should maybe call Asus and know if you can request full recovey dvds if you want to delete that partition in order to install Windows 7.

I didn't delete that partition on my Asus laptop, so I am unsure of how that solved OP's problem.
