The UID given to you by MS would NOT have been a standard key , ie 25 characters in a 5 X 5 configuration.
Its somewhat shorter, did you write yours down somewhere, hope so

The number Microsoft gave me over the phone in order to activate the Win 7 installation?
I'm not at home at the moment but can't check, but I'm 95+ % sure I wrote it down - but it was longer than the CoA 5 x 5 key as far as I remember.

I'll check as soon as I can although from what you said above, that doesn't sound like what you need - even if I did write it down!

I may have to ditch this idea and purchase a Windows 10 key and do a clean install of W10.

You can probably buy a Win 7 computer with a COA sticker with a Win 7 key for less than a Win 10 license.

In reality if a Vista to W7 Upgrade key was used wouldn't be a problem

If I didn't write it down could I retreive it as follows?

wmic path win32_computersystemproduct get uuid.

from an Admin Command Prompt?
