You should first ask what motherboards support Windows 7. It helps if the motherboard manufacture has Windows 7 drivers to download. Once you have that list you can narrow it down by asking which one supports the fasted Intel CPU.

There are many from AMD and Intel.


To install Win 7 on unsupported hardware requires medium level knowledge.
You will have to add drivers to the Win 7 installation media.
Update your Win 7 installation media
The difficult task is to find those drivers. Some of them are provided by hackers.

and since 12th gen intels will use the same chipset as 13th gen intels, technically the i9 13900K is the fastest cpu that supports windows 7

You'll need motherboard driver compatibility for Windows 7.

Windows 7 support drivers in Gigabyte motherboards goes up to the Intel socket 2066 which encompasses the X gen CPUs for extreme up to i9 10xxx series. So, Cascade Lake-X, Skylake Refresh- X, and Skylake-X. All are for a X299 chipset motherboard. That's if you want as fast as you can get with Windows 7 and 10 compatibility under Intel. No idea about AMD.

i.e., I did all the research for you already. If someone knows of a faster CPU with motherboard driver compatibility for Windows 7 then post here. I'm sure Asus et al have similar compatibility...

Note: Some of the 2066 sockets only support 10 or 7 & 10. I'd go 7 & 10 support and dual boot with more than one HDD.

Looks like a lot of those X299 motherboards are way too Xpensive. It sure as hell doesn't cost that much to fabricate, I'll tell you that. For that price you can custom design your own. I kid you not, there is a company, maybe more.

Yeah... I'm waiting for Zen 4 apparently due to be released this Fall (maybe September) and I need to start planing on hacking the crap out of 7 or strip down 10.

I heard that even if the hardware doesn't support Windows 7, you can still make Windows 7 compatible by installing the hardware's drives into Windows 7. Isn't this true?

No. Some hardware requires drivers that do not exist for win7. Some motherboard bios do not support win7.

I'm sure the first type of screwdriver that came to your mind as soon as you read the word "screwdriver" was a flat head type (or blade). The other most common is the Phillips head. There's Torx, square head and security bit types, etc.

So the screwdriver is the "motherboard driver." What do we call the the motherboard in this analogy? The screw type! So if a motherboard is like a "square head screw," you obviously can't use a Phillips head or Torx head screwdriver (motherboard driver).

Yes, it makes sense. But i was asking, will it work, if you also install the drivers the operating systems, that are compatible with the motherboard, have, into Windows7.

Windows works at a high level and has generic hardware commands. It can't directly communicate with hardware. A driver is designed to translate high level commands from the operating system and communicate with specific hardware at a low level. Each operating system may have a different way it communicates at a high level. For example, a driver written to work with Windows 10 may not work with Windows 7. In theory a driver written for Windows 10 could be rewritten for Windows 7. The problem is the source code for most hardware drivers are proprietary to the hardware manufacture. Most will not release them to the public. Unless the manufacturer takes an interest modified drivers for Window 7 will never be released.
