(direct line is that AD company)

Posted this to Reddit but got no response and the guy on the phone said it was alright to remove the hard drive which I did and it still works, they said if they can't fix it and send it bac they will scrap the laptop and send me a new one, either exact same model with ram or better. I also added 4gb of ram to I but idk if that will be replaced so should I remove that as well.

Been up the wall the past two days since spilling cold coffee on my Lenovo ideapad which knacked the keyboard so it's quite glitchy (pressing buttons activates another or doesn't activate etc.) It also didn't turn in yesterday but did today after a bit of fiddling. The accidental damage guy is coming on Tuesday. Am I in the right to keep the personal hard drive out wit a note of the doesn't of the laptop informing them on that? I mea it obby won't boot the (nonexistent) OS doing it that way but I donthave to lost the drive not sure about RAM you know insurance companies. Thoughts.

I am asking an insurance related question s for UK folks what's the experience? Or just in general if you have any insight before I meet him or her at the door... Not the warranty for Lenovo but the ad company. Thx. I need advice.

I could maybe clone my current drive using macrium before the arrive with another pc but there is only one other and it ain't mine. They legit said they would wipe the hard drives data.

I am saying I've been trying to get accidental damage cover through direct line cos of a coffee spill. The keyboard is glitchy it sometimes turns on. I removed the HDD because it would be scraped if they couldn't fix it upon replacement and I dont trust the enough even though sounds silly to transfer all my data but I do have a bit of an older backup.

Am I okay to remove the hdd

You had better ask direct line. Is there an excess on your policy?

It's more of a insurance question bar a technical one as the HDD still works, but again I think they will scrap my data. My opinions are add a note mentioning tha the HDD is removed for personal reasons/property and saying I'd like a replacement but it looks a bit odd. Or giving it all to them and hoping they send a full one back wit my HDD.

I asked the guy on the phone but he only said yes after prompting which makes me think they don't really care about the data itself; I apparently can remove the drive and I've paid excess.

I think I'm just a bit fumbled as tech issues especially wit certain bits of property and that bother me a bit... I don't think the guy who collects the package will know the full story I did add a note I think I'll call up again tomorrow.

^^ do you think I'll be aright leaving the laptop at their discretion partly disassembled for the convenience of both parties myself and them and they can reassemble with their expertise all the ribbon clips and screws (that I could find) included? Or should I just fully put it all back together for Tuesday? I am wondering how they would respond either way. Along with the note I'm just gonna have to be upfront with them at the door or over the phone but like some guy on reddit said with the same situation he doesn't trust them massively with th hard drive they won't look but they will likely wipe. Ig I just need some preliminary advice or summit I asked another family member and they backed me up with my decision to remove the drive.

What do you mean with "partly disassembled" I guessing you hopefully only have open just necessary to remove the harddrive?

Keep the harddrive.. if they ask. say you have work-related confidential data on the drive and you don't want to risk that the wrong hands get holds on that data. Then "most" company's all over the world will accept that the hard-drive is removed.
But do put it together again as it looks better if it is an insurance thing.

I can't fit all info on all my computers in these fields :-D
Try also used the specifier "if they can fix it" so I'm guessing they will just replace the drive maybe the keyboard but the board ain't broken it's the possibility fried chipset underneath the board that isn't functioning correctly. Idk I'll just have to wait but it's just iffy when stuff like this happens and it breaks your routine or convince if one spends a lot of time on their computer.

Update:Got a call back they can't fix it no surprise their water damaged items that partly work are usually classes as defunct although I forget the official phrasing. Have a new one on the way 5days it's an Acer.
