Solved YouTube video downloads now blocked

I frequently record interesting You Tube videos for future reference. The app I've been using is a full version of Media Human You Tube Downloader. But today it was blocked, I guess by Google.
Is there a simple screen recorder for W7 that handles both video and audio?

The person who uploaded the video to YouTube has ownership rights to the video. YouTube is only protecting these rights. If want a copy of this video your only legal option is to contact the owner of the video and ask if you could buy a copy of it.

Usually you just update your copy of Mediachance's software. That fixes it.

That's often the way. Youtube are continually changing things to discourage downloads, and 'downloaders' are continually being updated to keep up with the latest changes.

Downloading YouTube videos is not illegal, not copyright infringment. Much less YouTube protecting the user, quite the opposite.

People uploading videos will have ownership (or permission to upload from the owner at the very least), but in doing so they're granting a permission to watch it and a myrad of other things to Google (the privacy policy states those).
By just watching it within the website you're in fact downloading it (so the browser can play it), so there is no practical difference between it and a regular file download, other than a normal download is more "permanent". Nothing of this is illegal nor infringes anyone's rights.

The ral problem is what's done with the file afterwards. If you keep it for personal use and watch it from time to time, or to backup in case it gets deleted or when you're out of internet connection, it's ok. If you resell it, try to pass it as your own work or exhibit it in public, it's almost always a copyright violation and you must ask permission for that.
Imagine comparing it to buying a movie in a DVD, you only hold a physical copy yourself and may watch anytime you want, but not anythong beyond it.

Why Google cares about all this? Videos on Youtube are infected with advertisments, and those earn Google money. By having your own copy, you bypass this, so they have a strong incentive to make downloads difficult and keep spamming ads on you. The original author may receive a share of this too. Nothing illegal in doing that, nor in bypassing it.
