i wasn't able to playback mp3s or videos in the 64 bit version of WMP even though the 32 bit version was working fine. it would start and when i would click on in mp3 in my library i would get the dialog box that WMP is not working as it faded.

tried the DRM fix, but had no files in the directory. then in the advance options menu i unchecked anything to do with checking file information on the internet; it loads faster. but for some reason i ran it as an administrator and viola, it started working! i now don't need to run as admin and it is still working. don't know why and sort of don't care, maybe someone more knowledgable than me knows. just happy its working.

maybe this will help someone.

Have you used the "Send Feedback" facility of Windows 7 BETA to inform Microsoft of this little hiccup?

i didn't send anything special other than the usual report windows 7 sends when experiencing a difficulty. i understand that they get bombarded with emails and other messages; i woun't expect my one message about my peticular problem to get a lot of attention. had i saw several complaints on the web and in forums; i would have been more 'vocal'.

and i neglected to state that one of the first suspicions i had was my codecs not right and un-installed the shark's WCP 4 win7. when i had a simular problem in vista, the DRM delete helped but, not this time.

thanks for your inquiries and suggestions.

***************UPDATE/EDIT***************

well i still have the problem. what had fooled me is that i had WMP sidebar gadget running which keeps a WMP 12 32 bit in the background hence, why i thought it loaded quickly. so, back to the beginning; here is the error report in the log:
