Hi, I used Defense Wall before but I was unable to find out how it protects you.
All it did for me is give me a warning message in firefox so I hit "Fix" or something and firefox closed.

Also, how does it block USB worms?
Thanks!

Hi, have you read DefenseWall help file and tutorials?
eg. DefenseWall HIPS User Guide/Tutorial - Gladiator Security Forum
and my aproximative google-automated translate into english:
http://translate.googleusercontent....le.com&usg=ALkJrhjnvGvIXNzrirxnUmrdT24IQ_KuVg

Next thing - what kind of warning message did you get in FireFox? FireFox is a web browser and belongs (automated) to untrusted application list, so when you Stop Attack or Terminate button - it is obvious it will close all running untrusted application on your system.

If you need more help or additional question fell free to ask here or on official DW forum at:
Gladiator Security Forum -> DefenseWall HIPS

About USB worms - DW by default adds all your removable drives to untrusted zone, of course you can disable this in DW options.

This anti-malware.ru is a pretty shady outfit. They are not a part of AMTSO, so I dont trust these results.

Yes it is true - they are not a part of AMTSO, but it means nothing.
To this test is available test methodology and also you can read official statement/comments companies like Kaspersky, Microsoft, Comodo or Softsphere.

BTW. I have looked at AMTSO site, this is nice:
AMTSO Membership Fees

The annual membership fee in AMTSO is 2,000 Euros.

Tanks Defense Wall
does it result better than everybody? they say that the best is Avira Premium ...

Hi Jedy,

DefenseWall represents another/different security approach than standard AV software. You see, Avira offers detection based on almost 20 years old blacklists mechanism. DefenseWall offers prevention without signatures and blacklists one of the advantage in this approach is - you don't have to download everyday new signatures to keep your app able to detect new malicious code. Everyday malware writers release big number of new viruses: "each day these scumbags create 200,000-300,000 new web sites with embedded infections"

Also note that number of infection list is still increasing: Anti-virus vendors are getting more than 50,000 submissions of new malware per day now

Now compare these numbers to statistics from 1988-1995:
2.2- Observations of Computer Virus Prevalence

vb95.distrib-img4.gif

Do you see now what I mean when I'm saying - AV these days are outdated? It is impossible to add all these malicious signatures (~50,000) in one day - have a look at VirusTotal daily statistic: http://www.virustotal.com/estadisticas.html - especially at Failures in Detection (Last 24 Hours) Graph - Red: Infected files which one or more antivirus engines failed to detect as a threat.
Blue: Infected files detected by all antivirus engines.)
This is why AV's and your Avira didn't reach top note in this test.

BTW. I don't say - don't use AV, it is however another security layer, but for me AV works only as on-demand scanner (once per month/2months I do scan my system).
