I actually just re-formatted my laptop, i'm absolutely OBSESSED with a clean computer ;), and yes, in my case i would've just uninstalled the Tech. Prev., but as stated above, i just re-formatted :D

That would depend on which beta version you are testing out. If you decide to test the 64 bit version you will need to remove all previous 32 bit versions. If you plan on using the 32 bit version then you should be fine.

Hmmm...I'm not having any luck with my install. I made sure to remove all of 2007, however, I cannot get rid of a few things like "Live Add-in" and "Small business connectivity" something...my 2010 install keeps popping up with an error. I cannot uninstall what it already has on the computer, either, as that comes up as an error...

Anyone have any thoughts??????

EDIT: also restarted after removal.

I believe you can uninstall send a smile directly from Uninstall Programs. I've done that already.

Is anyone able to get their antivirus/antispam to work with Outlook? I am using Kaspersky 2010 and I am not seeing any way for it to work with it... yet.

Setup Outlook in manaual configuration.
I researched this issue further and the Itunes Addin is missing from Outlook, so when you launch Itunes, the Itunes add in is missing so when Itunes tries to call Outlook it can't make the call. Hence you get no mail client set to default. I sent a the data to the Office Beta team.

Ken there have been a lot of issues with Kas during the windows 7 rollout. I suggest using Microsoft Security essentials.

I always turn off email scanning. It's redundant. I'm careful and if I do click on something with a virus, the real time scanner should catch it.

Note to those of us that have been running the Tech Preview:

There is no upgrade path so you will need to uninstall it prior to installing the beta. If you have been using the Outlook connector to access hotmail accounts, you need to make sure you uninstall that as well - the CTP version will not work with the beta bits. You will be prompted to download the new version of the add-in when you attempt to add your hotmail account to Outlook 2010 beta.

PS - be sure to reboot between the uninstall/reinstall steps...

As a rule of thumb, I'd always recommend using a VM for performing any beta evaluations. It is much easier to blow away a VM image than it is to repave your production OS in the event the beta borks (especially if you are using an image that can be easily rolled back by discarding the Windows VPC undo disk or reverting to a saved VMWare snapshot). This can save you a lot of headaches - many beta products are notorious for leaving undesireable artifacts when you attempt to uninstall them.

Anytime I click on word, excel etc. I have to wait for office to configure. Is it suppose to configure every time a program in office is selected? Thanks

It does if you keep going back and forth between using an earlier version of Office and a later version. If you stick with one or the other, it shouldn't do that anymore.

You should see Antivirus Active as the last item in the box if your a/v is OK. Now, mine is, I use Avast. It set itself properly. HOW to add it if it's not, I am still to ascertain!
