I use a screen magnifier/reader,it doesn't allw aero to function because it uses the graphics card,a known mirrored driver issue, not fixable at this time.So I would like to either disable aero altogether so I can use a black theme,or use the built in windows7 basic theme but with black instead of the default colour.
I know I can shut off aero peak and aero shake but how do I shut all of aero off, other than using the win7 basic theme, and that is why I asked about changing the colour in the basic theme.I hope that makes sense.

Hello Newt,

Welcome to 7 Forums.

Rt. click the desktop > Personalize > Window Color > Uncheck 'Enable Transparency'. This doesn't turn off all of aero, but is a big part of the graphics end of it.

If you have selected a non aero theme, then you can click on 'advanced appearance and settings' and create your own color scheme.

Hope this helps.

Gary

Without applying a third party theme...you can't change the color of the Superbar and window borders while using the theme Windows 7 Basic...

He can do this...

Install uxStyle

Download the themes from this link: Colors. Windows 7 Basic by ~UntitledGame on deviantART and extract them to C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\

Choose a different color from the Personalization menu

Thank you but that did not change anything.I followed the instructions given with no problem but I still can't use a black theme with my screen magnifier on.When I turn magnifier on the borders and task bar revert to a basic blueish gray, possibly a default colour. The aero works fine when not using mag. program but then I can't read anything.
I tried and am using the win7 basic theme but still looks as it did before I tried your instructions.
Thanks anyway.

Oh....I forgot one detail...you have to be using a 32-bit OS for that color pack from deviantART to work...

I will try and see if I can find one for 64-bit
