Issue with Hz screen settings on Nvidia drivers

Untill today, I can't set my old Siemens CRT screen MCM 2110 MTD to 100Hz - 32bit - 1024/768 (can run 120Hz with WinXPpro!)
I run Win7 on an old mobo Epox 8RDA3+ with Nvidia 7600GT GoldenSample agp, have tried WDDM1.0, WDDM1.1, 181.22, 182.05 Nvidia Drivers, and only WDDM1.0 works (with poor performances).

Mind that the day I installed Seven, everything was running fine and as usual like with WinXPpro (100Hz - 32bit - 1024/768), but after a few updates, my sceen became to flikker and set back to 70Hz. If i try to set 100Hz, i only get 16bit colors.

From now, as I have tried several drivers, i think it is only Nvidia ro Microsoft relevant, and not the screen driver as i mannaged to re-create a working Siemens .inf file with moninfo.exe http://www.download3k.com/DownloadLink1-Monitor-Asset-Manager.html

Why are you trying to set it at such high frequency Hz? :)
There is no need to set it so high?

So high freq? 100Hz isn't so high for a CRT.
And I prefer 100Hz for my visual-and-eyes comfort. It's just awfull and
tiring working with less freq.

Any way, it's strange that the first day Seven was installed 100Hz was available, but not anymore!

The main problem with CRT's is the radiation not the frequency. :)

OK. If i'm right, the higher the refresh rate, the less tiring for the eyes?!
Anyway, this is not the problem.
I'd like to find why i can't set 100Hz anymore, and why my screen is flikkering.
Why no other drivers than WDDM1.0 don't work (even WDDM1.1)?

If u use Riva Tuner, you can use its built in refresh rate overrider. Or try a proggy called "RefreshForce" found here: RefreshForce Home Page

Hope this helps!

your CRT might be kicking the can!

Mine did that when I put it on 75hz, used to SCREAM bloody murder (really high pitched noise), even warbled when I shook it, kind of weird. After a day of that it wouldn't stick in 75hz mode, only 70.

I remember windows XP used to let me set it up to 120hz, even though I know it was not capable of it... so it might actually only be able to do 70hz.

Did you try Riva Tuner?

RivaTuner

It has a built in Refresh rate overrider, but for it to work, it must remain in system tray and also in start-up.

I have a peculiar problem with Vista and 7, where both the OS give me an option of setting my 15" CRT at 1024 x 768 @ 70 Hz but if I try that, the monitor goes "Out of Sync."

So, I used Riva Tuner's built in Refresh Rate Overrider to create a rule which always sets 60 Hz for 1024 x 768.

Post back if you feel its confusing. I'll explain how to do it.

Hope this helps and Thank you for your time!

I've just asked Gainward about old graphic cards (7600 serie) and Seven. I asked the tech support about a new bios or about any tips for the resolution. Here is the reply of the TechSupport:
Hi JF,
i know about the problems with older cards and newer drivers, this is especially a problem with windows 7.

The 7 series is since 2 years end of life.
I don’t have any newer bios version.

The newest drivers are designed for the latest graphic cards and games.
Wow, thanks Gainward, thx nVIDIA, thx Seven...

Well, you have to remember that you're trying to run older technology on the newest BETA OS out there...

As the support guy said, your card is 2 years out of it's support life, they don't support them forever although I know allot of people would expect them too, but technology advances and they can't afford to dwell on older cards too long.

You're using an old CRT, an old MB, and a semi-old graphics card, and you're expecting optimal performance from a beta OS? Kinda unrealistic IMO
But blame Win7 anyway, it must be their fault

All sarcasm aside, the OP needs to realize that because newer OSs don't support older hardware it is *not* the OSs fault, but the hardware's fault.

Just because you *could* do it doesn't make it right - case in point - You used to have unbridled access to every system and device on XP - and *any* scan of a security site will show you just how much of a disaster that is in terms of allowing malware that same unbridled access.

So, if you haven't found an answer and the manufacturer cannot help you, I'd say that your hardware is simply not compatible and that is the end of it.

Do you reallise? That means you have to buy a new computer every 3 years if you wanna have new OS!
I don't want highest results, I just want my computer to work flawlessly.
And yes, i blame hardware manufacturer for that. It's just too easy matter to forget materiel older than 2 years.
