Hi all,

I am sorry if this question has been asked a lot to you, but i just want to know for sure.

Currently i am a Windows Vista Home Premium (32bit) user. I am registered to a site which offers Windows 7 Upgrades for a reduced price to students (Ultimate upgrade costs 60 euro :D)
However, the site gives 2 differrent items:
-> Windows 7 Ultimate (32 bit) dutch Upgrade
-> Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit) dutch Upgrade

As you can see i want to upgrade to 7 ultimate ;), which, according to MS official website, should be no problem.
However, I want to change from 32 bit to 64 bit, which requires a clean installation.
Will it be possible to run a clean installation with an Upgrade version of W7?
So can i install Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit) on a computer which used to run Windows Vista (32 bit)?
Or will i encouter some difficulties?
Please help me :)
Thanks in advance

Yes you can do a clean install with an upgrade version.
Yes, you can install a 64 bit on a computer than ran 32 bit. But check to make sure that your computer meets the required specifications.

Yes my computer meets the requirements
CPU: 2.4 GHz dual core processor (64 bit capable)
RAM: 4 GB
HD: 320 GB

So that should be enough xD
I just wanted to know this for sure, because when you buy the "normal" Upgrade pack from Microsoft, you get both the 32 and 64 version and you can decide which one fits your PC.
Ive got to order ONE version, so i only get the 32 or the 64 bit W7.
And dont want to take the risk of buying W7 64 when it refuses to install because im not currently using a 64 bit OS...
Has somebody already tried it out? (i mean upgrading 32 to 64 ;) )

If you do a clean install, it makes no difference how many bits in your prior OS. In a clean install you even have the option to format your drive. Effectively, everything will be gone. So, if you meet the requriements there will be not problem, with going from 32 to 64. You only have to enjoy.
