Web Surfing Annoying Choppy in W7

I hope I end up being specific enough, and I apologize if that's not the case. Ever since I switched to W7, my web surfing experience has been nowhere *near* what it was in XP. I'm quite aware that this is a much more resource intensive OS, but this is getting ridiculous; my hardware is not slow. I'll try to describe what happens in words when I click on a page or scroll withing it:

*Click*.......(3-5 second delay).......page starts loading in half-second increments until all graphics have been displayed.

As I'm typing, letters will stop appearing, and then many will appear at once after a brief pause.

If I use the scroll-wheel within a page, it will pause every few seconds, and then jump to wherever it should be.

Does this have anything at all to do with the fact that I'm only running two gigs of RAM in a 64-bit OS? I've read that having only two gigs with this OS can cause problems. Are there any suggestions as to what I can do? (AAAGGGHHH! It just paused while I was typing, again!)

Thanks in Advance

Doubt it's anything to do with RAM, it sounds more like a problem upgrade install, or a browser corruption issue.

What happens if you try Opera for arguments sake, or the native Internet Explorer?

Hi and welcome

I suspect 3 things are happening

One you are using homegroup for networking. It uses IPv6, which on some systems causes slow downs, dropped connections and stuttering. Yoiu can easily change to workgroup.

2-Ram, 2 gigs isnt a boat load at the best of times

3-Netwrking issue, like rdp, network share, etc.

If you give us more info we can be more help

I can't say that all of the symptoms that you describe are memory related...in fact, none of them may be. I'm only running 2GBs of memory at the moment, and while I have noticed some delay before a connection is made with a website, that there is no delay after that point, other than what appears to be normal delays caused by outside factors on the web. In the past, I had noted some delays displaying typed entries, but that was random and now seems to have disappeared for reasons that I know not. No delays scrolling.

I just ordered a couple of more GBs of ram for a secondary rig, but I may install them for a period on my primary rig first, to see if I can see any difference with extra ram, however that will be a few days before they arrive.

....first things, first. I've just opened IE for the first time ever, and it's not showing any of these symptoms. I normally use Chrome, but I have no other browsers to try. I suppose I should start by first re-installing Chrome.

Ok, I just went into my Network area, and 27 computers have shown up. What is going on? This is my one PC in my apartment. I'm hardwired, for the record; there are no wireless connections. I'm sorry for the possibly non-related issue, but I don't know if it has anything to do with any of what was originally stated.

I shouldn't laugh, but it's hard not to chuckle at this...

Remove them all, turn off networking, secure your router... check for spyware
and any other virals... ;)

I had a similar condition, which I determined to be too much stuff running in Scheduled Tasks, apparently slowing down everything I did. Maybe it would be worth a check. Control Panel.
