Can MSE co-exist with another Virus product?
Interested in MSE.
Question - Can MSE run while other products run? i.e. Norton Antivirus and Superantispyware.
or do you have to remove them before installing MSE.

why would you want to? MSE should be enough for anti virus. Having more than one could cause conflicts and use up resources unnecessarily.

If your question is if you can have two installed at the same time the answer is, yes. There are some exceptions, however.
If your question is should I, the answer is an outstanding no.
There are a few instances, of not even being able to download a second A/V, until one is removed, due to conflicts.

Yes that was the answer I was looking for - Thanks
hi !
MSE & Avira-free works together.
also, MSE warns you during installation if it detects another Antivirus-program that cannot be used together with MSE.
but it´s NOT recommended to have 2 Antivirus-programs running....

There's generally no real-world reason to run two anti-virus products at the same time. Using an anti-malware product, such as Malware bytes, in conjunction with an anti-virus product however is perfectly reasonable, and sometimes even advisable since Malware bytes can often catch 0day infections quicker than other AV vendors. Malware bytes does not have the need to keep legacy threats in their database.
Running two av products at the same time, as previously mentioned can use unnecessary resources. Running two active protections at the same time can cause less-than desirable results including system instability and the wonderful blue screen of death.
Allowing two applications with real-time, or "active" protection can cause conflicts in which both applications try to quarantine the file causing the other to possibly throw exceptions. FPs between the two systems can also cause major issues as well.
If you're doing this for testing, just be aware that it can cause you problems. I'd recommend trying it in a virtual environment first.

I have tried running MSE with avast, eset,, kaspersky and norton and it works fine with all of 'em.
Your experience may vary. But there's no harm trying it.
