Audio Is Rolling -Kind Of Like A Siren...?

Reaching my frustration limit. I have owned every version of windows and this is a new one. Not sure how to describe it - the sound fades in and out, kind of the way a siren does. I was using the realtek on board chip(capable of 5.1) with my 2.1 speaker system (used with XP). Tried adjusting all speaker driver options and nothing. Went out and purchased a Soundblaster Audigy SE card, got a WIN7 driver from web, same noise issue. Downloaded Media Player Classic 64bit and my songs played normal again, not the most dynamic sound but no fading. Must be a problem with WMP12? WIN7 wont let me use WMP9/10/11 so I am stuck with 12. I have turned off all enhancements on 12 but nothing has solved this fading in/out problem, any ideas?

This is a new system and it was like this from day one.

I had that issue with my laptop speakers. I have posted this a couple of times I know, but I'm pleased i've sorted it on mine.

1) Right click speaker icon in bottom left (or Control Panel, Hardware & Sound, Sound)
2) Select 'Playback Devices
3) Right click on the speaker output you are using, usually 'Speakers'
4) Select 'Properties'
5) Click 'Enhancements'
6) Tick 'Disable All Enhancements'
7) Click 'OK'
8) Restart Media Player and any other audio programs open, a system restart should not be require, but should done if sound is still not correct.

EDIT: you say you have all enhancements turned off, I did too, but it was clicking the Disable Enhancements box that seemed to sort it. Let us know if its any better.

I tried it all - all of it. Still the same old sound. Starting to wonder if it is my PC. My Video is also having some issues. On occasion I am seeing lines - I have to refresh and it is okay. Other issues too but I will address them in the proper forum.

Anyway here is a sample I just recorded. I am about to download I-tunes and see if that program will work.

WMP12 works just fine.

This is no doubt another driver problem.

Try the Daniel K ones for Audigy SE.

Or just sort through this mess and take your pick.

I sure wished you were right about the driver problem. I am currently listening to I-tunes in complete clear unfaded glory. I am not sure how my copy of WMP12 is not working properly but I am not sure how else to explain this phenomenon. Losing fate in Windows 7 by the day...:(

Strange - I am watching some Music Vids I transferred from my old PC and they seem to be playing w/o the fade....
