My machine is dual boot with Vista Ultimate 32 and Windows 7 Pro 32, Upgrade.
CPU is AMD 64 Athlon X2, mobo is a Asus M3A. Both qualified to run 64 bit.
I had purchased the 7 from MS and have both 32 and 64 Backup DVD's.
I want to do an upgrade of the 7 from the 32 bit version to the 64 to utilize more memory.

Is there anything I need to know other than a custom install is required?

Pete

His question was is there anything else that he needs to know, other than a clean install. Nope thats it, just grab all the 64bit vista/win7 drivers before you start the upgrade process. Also unplug the other hard drive before you start it, just to be sure you dont nuke the wrong drive.

Actually, I had originally said "clean" and then edited it to "custom".

I want to add memory and will probably do my Vista after this.
Can't really call it an upgrade, can I.

Thanks for the reassurence.

When you boot the DVD, the installer will see the other OS on the HD to allow Upgrade key, even if you then format the Win7 32 partition.
