danneth, welcome to the forums.

First thing that comes to mind is have you installed any motherboard/chipset drivers? Windows 7 has a fairly good inventory of drivers, but depending on the age of the hardware it may be not much more than enough to provide basic functionality, and take actual drivers from the hardware manufacturer to get full function out of it.

Hardware Detection

The hardware detection for this would be at the bios level not the OS the boards bios does not see the card as being plugged in.

Always in this situation remove and reinstall the card in the slot sometimes they just don't go into the slot all the way.

Also if the board is old and the hardware that you are trying to use is a lot newer it could require a bios update for support of the newer hardware.

Try This

Try this also, remove the card then clear your CMOS by pulling battery then push the power button in for about 10 seconds then reinstall battery and leave card out now start up the computer all the way then shut it down reinstall the card and reboot and see what happens.

most likely, unless there are incorrect jumper/connector configurations on the card...
I have the same motherboard as you, I think the onboard realtek sound is actually pretty good anyway ;)
