No icons on desktop

Hi, i just added a 2nd user to my pc and i dont see any icons on desktop (can see icons name but not the icon), i can see the windows taskbar but if i click on the win logo, nothing happens, the strange thing is, if i log in back to my original accounti can see the icons. In other words i only have this problen on the 2nd or 3rd user, any help, thanx.

ok im using win 7 ultimate 32 bit
AMD Athlon 64 x2 dual core 2.2 ghz
2gb ram

What happens when you right click on the desktop and choose 'personalize'... click on "change desktop icons", then click 'restore default'?

Just a thought, try to open another account. Maybe the one you have is defective.

Already tried, no effect. The desktop itself should be okay, but something with graphics must be wrong.... :-(

Just a thought, try to open another account. Maybe the one you have is defective.

Tried several times, it's still the same no matter whether the other account is a standard or administrator one.

srny, did you or do you have a virus or malware on your machine?
Run a scan with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, just to make sure you're okay.

download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop
|MG| Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.43 Download
* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.

After doing the above, see if this guy's instructions (on what he did) will help you

1. booted up to windows
2. ctrl+alt+del to get windows task manager
3. File, new task, typed regedit, clicked ok
4. go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current
Version\Image File Execution Options\
5. In there I had an explorer.exe folder that I deleted (you may have an
entry in the root of the Image File folder as well.. delete them also).
6. Rebooted and everything was back to normal.
7. Breathed a sigh of relief.

You can back up the explorer.exe folder (and files in the Image File
Execution Options root if applicable) by exporting them before the deletion
process.

What about restarting explorer.exe? Right click taskbar, Start Task Manager, Process and find 'explorer.exe' and click end, then click run, then type explorer.exe. Does that work?

Got it, guys.... for some reason, IconCache.db was missing.... I just copied it from the main user profile and everything is ok
