I cant get the software to read the fingerprint sensor. I used the New windows 7 x64 bit drivers but still no luck. The message that is being returned by the program is "

Does anyone have any suggestion's. I have gone in the device manager and looked at all of the units and they say that the biometric driver is working fine. Could it be a bad install and just try it again?

If you clean installed, you may need more software than just the drivers from installer.

Fingy readers and Webcams are like that.

Check you manufacturer's Support Downloads page for your computer model.

Thank you very much for that link, and I did do that, but it was not the problem in my case. I had to install other drivers from the Lenovo Windows 7 site.

The issue now is that I have two different versions of the scanner on the computer under the device manager and I can't figure out how to uninstall the wrong one.

Do you all have any other great ideas as to how to uninstall this type of device.

Do you have two separate listings for the same exact Fingerprint device in your Dev Mgr?

Can you ascertain which one is the one you want to keep? If so, just Uninstall the other one.

You can also roll back drivers on that same Drivers tab.

To see the full roster of saved drivers for a device, go Dev Mgr>Device Name>Driver tab>Update Driver>Browse>Let Me Choose. Tick the box and study all cued drivers.

You may have the driver Windows installer first may have given you for Fing Reader and then another which came in with the software you added. Very rare. Post screenshots back if you need help sorting.

Here is the screen shot of the control panel screen where you can see two different version of the fingerprint scanner. Also attached is the Device manager screen. (Side note I can not figure out what the two Unknown's are either.

The one I would want to keep is the not the Notebook version to the best of my research. That one can't communicate with the scanner.

How do I uninstall this program? I have not done any of that yet in seven.

To uninstall a program go to control panel, program and features and uninstall.
After you are done you may want to use ccleaner to make sure all the remnants are removed.

Others recommend Revo, to uninstall. I perfer the first way myself. Although, I do think the majority, here prefer Revo. I prefer the former, because I have never had a problem with that method.

After uninstalling the unwanted device in Programs and Features, go back to the Device manager and resolve the Devices which are in error with the yellow exclamation marks.

One of them may be the Fingerprint reader. Double click on the device in error, use Driver tab to Update driver. Try running Auto first to see if it can find it on your system or internet - if the reader is installed then it should have brought along a driver somewhere. If not, Browse to the driver file you download and unzip from your computer maker's Support Downloads page for your computer model.

If there is still another device in error, run it's Driver tab>update Driver auto check on the web and searching your computer. If it does not locate the driver, you will need to research what device it is that is missing its driver checking by it's name, or running a hardware audit of your machine to see which device is missing it's driver.

I have not been able to identify what the little yellow issues boxes are. I can not figure out what they are attached to. If you have any other suggestions on what should be done that would be a great help. Also do you think that I should start a new thread on how to identify those hard to find one that are not picked up by windows, or can be located on the harddrive? So we can figure it out and post it as a resolved issue and resolve this issue for the fingerprint scanner so that it may help someone else?

Those yellow markers mean that the drivers have to be updated. You can do it from the device manager.

Click on the device in error. I gave the exact steps to locate the driver in my post above. Post back any further questions.
