How to distinguish 32 bit from 64 bit iso

Hi, new here. I downloaded the 64 bit iso from the student promotion. I realized I wanted the 32 bit. They sent me a second link to an iso along with info on how to install 64 bit windows 7. I don't know if the second iso is 32 bit. How can I tell the difference between the 32 and 64 bit iso's for win 7 pro upgrade?

The only difference really is 64bit is faster if you have 4gb of RAM or more, allot off people say that they have problems with 64bit IMO I have had no problem what so ever.

What are your system specs? With the 32bit OS it can't read any ram above 4GB and that includes your video ram. So if you have more then 4GB you should go for 64bit to get the full use of your ram. Although if you don't have a 64 bit chip you would have no choice but to use a 32 bit, but since you did not post your systems specs I can't tell.

Although if you really needed to know just start up the disk and it should yet you know before you start the install process.

32bit will have x86 in the name.
64bit will have x64 in the name.

So what if I have 2g RAM and has windows 32 bit, but I add another 2 g of RAM. Would I be able to upgrade to a 64bit or do I have to buy a completely new Windows?

I was in a similar situation with beta builds 7068 & 7100 (both x86 & x64). You can tell by the file name as a previous post mentioned, or in your case, by the properties of each (date)

Well the second disk I got is named is GRMCPRFRER_EN_DVD. Not sure what it means. The install starts and does not say what version it is. I am not ready to complete the install yet so I cannot let it complete.

Mount your Iso run it and install. It will give you the option of X86, or X64. X64 is the 64 bit.

Depends on your processor. As long as it is a 64bit Chip (CPU) you can install and run the 64Bit Windows

I have a P4, 2.66 GHz. Pretty sure I need the 32 bit. I have 2 downloads from digital river of the student offer. Neither tell me what I am about to install, 32 or 64. I am hoping there is some way to tell by looking at the files in the iso. Like I said, I am not ready to complete the install just yet. I just want to make sure I d/l'd the correct iso. Both times they sent links discussing installing 64 bit (even after asking them to confirm it was 32 bit), but the iso's are different.
