Permanently disable Driver Signing enforcement in 64bit

In case you didn't realize, I(the OP/"tool") was the one who made this solution known in the thread. And said it worked.

And like I also said, it opens you up to unnecessary security risks. If that doesn't bother you, then go ahead and use it. Some people actually care about that, and would be interested to know alternative solutions if they exist.

I apologize if you're not one of those people, but if you aren't then you have no business being in this thread.

I joined the motionjoy forum, and there have been a few suggestions made to sign the drivers themselves by other users, but there is a language barrier so I don't think they grasp what people are saying, and god knows what you have to do to get the bluetooth working, I even bought a dongle despite the fact I have it built in, to no avail.

I have bluetooth working, but you have to re-pair with the PC everytime you use the controller on a playstation. Hassle for me since Im always going back and forth, so I just plug it in nowadays.

For the best, as the PC doesn't have anything to recognize the battery life.. that I could find anyway.

If you still need to know how to disable the automatic driver installation, this is the only method I have found that works 100% of the time.

   Tip

Go to Start > Search > (Type in) gpedit.msc > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Device Installation > Device Installation Restrictions > (Right Click) Prevent Installation of Devices not described by other policy settings > Edit > Select ENABLED


Note: You may need to set it back to NOT CONFIGURED before proceeding with the new driver installation or you may get errors during the installation.

Automatic driver installation takes place at start up so once you uninstall the old driver and reboot you can revert the change after the next start up without Windows installing drivers on you

I have used this method many times so that I can do a clean install of new video drivers (ie. uninstall/reboot into safe mode/run driver cleaners/reboot/ install new driver) and it prevents the automatic driver installation from occurring.

Test Mode = Test Signing Mode. "What's in a name", etc... It does nothing except allow test-signed drivers, period. Everything else is FUD.

OK i cant just skip this over, i was trying to do the exact same thing this tool is doing the ps3 six axis thing on my win 7 64 bit, i did this in a command line window

Open a command prompt as an admin and type

bcdedit -set loadoptions DISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS

bcdedit -set TESTSIGNING ON

Now it says testing in the bottom right
Test Mode
Windows 7
Build 7600

THIS WORKED PERFECTLY, and has been working just fine for a very long time, so any one who may need help with this SAME EXACT PROBLEM this person is having...THIS ACTUALLY WORKS, dont listen to anything this tool has been saying. Hope this helps others who search for this...

Thanks. I just did this on Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition x64 (64bit) and it worked as well just in case anyone uses the server edition of what is basically Windows 7. It's more like Windows 7 on Steroids and a lot more features and control over the machine. Definitely worth the upgrade from Windows 7 x64 Ultimate!

Oh and just in case you didn't know, Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise x64 works just as it did on Windows 7. I actually even install the Windows 7 Drivers on Server 2008 R2 Enterprise and it uses them with no problem. It actually recognizes that it's the server edition too.

Because WinServer 2008R2 widely available and affordable from the retail store, and that anyone would want to use it as a desktop machine...

It is Win7 on steriods, because it is a server.
Never use a server as an everyday desktop.

As for the OP: No idea sorry. Our Novell guru is working on the driver signing part of our builds.

I believe that's a typo. There are two D's in DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS:

bcdedit /set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
bcdedit -set TESTSIGNING ON

I tried pasting what shorty shared into an elevated prompt, and it did not solve the problem. Trying again now with the double-D's!

DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS didn't work for me, either. Win 7 x64. Note that I might have a different issue, since these are my Intel chipset usb drivers that are "unsigned" and remain that way after a system restore. So I may have an unusual case here.
