Hi There!

I am running x64 Win7 Pro, and I am trying to get my Canon i6500 working.

Computer says it's an unrecognized device, and I can't seem to figure out how to fix it. Was working fine in 32bit XP.

Have you installed the drivers and received an incompatible message? If so, try right clicking the driver install package and select properties. Click on the compatiblity tab and check the box "run this program in compatibility mode for" either vista or xp.

All there is there are addon drivers. Which indicates internal drivers are supplied for the i6500.

Yeah you are right and it does not look like Canon had much other support for that printer. What you could try is to go into device manager (right click my computer/properties/device manager) and uninstall the printer drivers. Then reboot the computer and the computer should reinstall the drivers for you, or should at least ask to search online for drivers. If you do not get the prompt for the drivers you may need to unplug the printer then plug it back in and then the computer should do its thing with the drivers.
