Hey Everyone!

(I'm ready for the flames) so-o-o .. Here goes anyway.:D

I'm broke .. for the time being and don't have any money for a video card.

I have an old card, (first link) that I want to try out in my new pc. (second link)

The card had been in my xp which used the same on-board chip as my new pc.

Questions: Will the card work?
Will the graphics improve?
(no high end video games here)

The card itself was never used in the xp because the xp's board was bad from the begining and I was too much of a Noob at the time to know that I was only running from the onboard graphics.

Thanks

CARD: (Click on the ? marks) No idea why the question marks show up and not the url.

Hi Mr close,I had the same integrated graphics in mine before i upgraded,to be honest i would stick to the integrated card that comes with your new machine especially since you have 6 gigs of memory, its not bad, mine managed to run call of duty 4 and the sims 3,plus i doubt you will find drivers for the card from your old machine plus another point to remember is The new pc must be 64bit if it comes with 6gigs of memory so you may have difficulty there.

I was almost sure that that was going to be the case.

You are correct, the new machine is 64BIT.

It's just that I have this older (2005) media center XP sitting here with I'm sure are some good parts in it that are going to waste.

The RED color went on the graphics almost two years ago and .. "I Think" that the hard drive was starting to go on me.
(Took forever to spin up and sometimes, never would boot until you tried three or four times)

the tv tuner may be able to be used but your going to have to do some searching for the drivers. with 5yr old hardware it'll be difficult most likely.

The 6200 turbo cache card was a somewhat crippled 6200. It shared system RAM, with the idea that it would give decent performance through the PCI-E interface. I haven't checked specs, but it may not be superior to the onboard graphics. It's probably not worth the bother. (I'm not sure whether good Win7 drivers are available for it, either.)

Later: 195.62 WHQL, from www,nvidia.com, includes support for the 6200 Turbo Cache. It should even support Aero Glass effects.
