How can i burn movies onto my hd using windows 7 ?

As take them from a CD?
If so load the cd, copy the video file and place it in a folder of your choosing.

Unless they are homemade DVD's, They all have some sort of copy protection on them.

They all are, DVDFab will rip them to your hard drive, it's free for 30 days, try it, if you don't like it, you don't buy it.
Or give it a little while and you'll get several recommendations.

Try these:

DVD Decrypter download DVDDecrypter

Download DVD Shrink 3.2.0.15 - DVD Shrink - A FREE software to backup DVD disks ! - Softpedia

Use the first to rip, then the second to recompress.

Shrink is a good app but a little dated for 7. It's unable to get past some of the copy protection. You may need something like Anydvd running first. Anyhow, if you use shrink to create a vob file directory it has a checked option by default to break up your files into 1 gig chunks. No big deal if your going to use those files to burn but if your doing a video library then you might want a single file for each movie.
If you don't use compression you'll wind up with files about 3.5 gigs a peice. That can add up.
