First cyclone of the season.... Who's in far north QLD?

Ok, so this doesn't apply to about 99% of the members on this forum but still thought I would share.

We are likely to get our first cyclone of the season tomorrow night. Only a category 1 at this stage but will most likely end up a cat 2. This cyclone is a bit confused... went from being Cyclone Neville to ex-tropical cyclone Neville to cyclone Olga. Either Neville had a sex change or the bureau of meteorology are trying to confuse us ;p Australia has already had a cyclone cross the coast in Western Australia earlier in the week (JMH is a WA'er I think?)

It's a timely reminder for those in Australia (and other countries) in cyclone zones to clean up your yard for this season.

I like a little wild weather but nothing over a cat 2 this season please...

I "survived " a Cat 5 cyclone, "Rosita," when living in Broome, Western Australia. Happened to be in April, the end of the cyclone season.
Had just returned from a visit to the Alps. What a welcome home.

Tis a humbling experience Tom. One, in retrospect, I wouldn't have missed.
It required ingenuity to live for 9 days without fresh food or power etc.

JMH - that would have been brutal. Mum 'survived' Cyclone Tracey only to have her house burnt down completely a year later due to faulty wiring (houses were very hastily put together again after Tracey). The stories she tells chill me to the bone.

May head towards the Gulf & on towards Darwin, gaining strength as it goes.

I know what you mean... I even deflated my daughter's pool and packed it away. She's feeling more than a little ripped off. At least it has cooled things down a little
