I have windows seven home premium on a lenevo 3000 N100.

I was running Super Anti spyware free edition and it said that a folder in my documents which contained 2 MP3 files and 2 image files was corrupt. I know it was not like that to begin with as I downloaded it on Jan 7 and have listened to the songs a few times since then. I can't delete it because it is corrupt. It recommends I run chkdsk. I go to it by going to my computer, drive c, properties, tools, check disk. Then it says it can't run it when windows is in use and asks if I'd like to schedule a scan the next time I turn on my computer. I have restarted and shut down my computer atleast 5 times now and it will not start that scan, it'll just boot up like it normally would. Am I doing something wrong, or is there another or easier way to do this?

Try this, take ownership of the file and see if you can delete it.

Just tried it, still says it is corrupt

Did you try MalwareBytes, Under the tools tab there's file assassin that unlocks and deletes files. Malwarebytes.org

I have that program as well. Just tried it. An error message popped up saying that file is corrupted or unreadable.

Hello, can you try with this small program called "UNLOCKER" and you'll remove it 100% out of your system, without a problem, just install and go to your folder or something else, rigth click, and click on "UNLOCKER ICON"and will open an small window, where informs you if the folder is locked or not,if so,just unlock and delete,if not locked,go down on the same small window, left side, click on the small arrow and choose delete, that's all.
i let hier the link for the unlocker program.Download Unlocker 1.8.8 - FileHippo.com,it's free.

I'll see if it works, I'm a little iffy to try scan related things at the moment because I'm on campus and don't have much time in between classes for most of the day. I'm not sure if theres something "locking" it I've tried switching the permissions on it too and still no luck. I don't wana worry about fixing it, I just want the damn thing deleted!

When you say you have restarted your computer a number of times, how exactly do you do that,
do you press restart my computer.?

Yes, I go start, restart, or shut down. I'm well aware how the chkdsk thing is supposed to work. I go to my computer, right click, properties, tools, then the check dick thing. If I don't check any of the boxes, the bar will probably scan for about 10 percent and then says something like "check the repair automatically to automatically repair files." I do that, then it says "check disc can't run while windows is in use, would you like to schedule a scan the next time you turn on your computer?" Or something close to those lines. I click the schedule scan button, and have either gone start, restart, or start, shut down. It'll just boot the computer normally and not check anything.

Hi, Ok don't press restart, press shutdown and then leave it for a couple of minutes
and then physically restart it yourself, there is a difference in what happens between them, anyway I would
just like to see if there is any change doing it this way, Thanks.

I was trying shut down last night as well, but I wasn't waiting a couple mins. But I guess I'll try that when I get home today around 2 PM pacific time. I'm afraid it might take awhile to scan and I won't have time in between my classes today. But if anyone else comes up with ideas or fixes that may work in between that I can try during my breaks, I'll try those as well.

If you think the file is "locked" by Windows you could delete from a cmd prompt or if that won't work delete from cmd prompt on boot before you even get into windows ..

if you have partitions you need to know what partition the file is on and you will need to know what directory the file is in .......
The Command Prompt would be ;
- Type CD \
(To visit the root of the drive)
- Type CD <<folder name>>
(to go to the right directory)
- Type DIR / X
(for a list of files with 'short name')
This name is usually 1 or ~ ~ 2 at the end
- Type del <<filename>> (use shortname) (from recovery console use delete)

be careful this is not reversible :geek:

I don't think it's "locked" though. I've tried that "take command thing", various other un-locker type programs and features that un-lock things in other programs. I'm hoping that check dick will fix it. I mean everything else is working fine, computer boots ok, nothing else crashes or is acting funny, just can't delete that stupid corrupted folder. Just have to try it when I get home.

Also, heres a screen of when I try to delete it.

And here is when I try to open the folder
