Ultimate Steal question

Hey I'm currently running windows xp 32-bit still, and I decided to use the ultimate steal deal ($65 for win 7 pro). I then realized I have to have a DVD burner to even install it?? I was charged and extra $13 for a disc I THINK, but i'm not sure. Anyone know how this works and would care to help me?

Alternatively you can use this free tool to install Win 7 from usb.

WinToFlash - Install Windows from usb - Home page

Download the file and extract it to your desktop.
Run the program "WinToFlash.exe" and follow the onscreen instructions.
Easy to follow instructions...

Do make sure your Win 7 installation files are in a single .ISO image file.

Bah all I have is a crappy old 1GB usb stick. It says they'll send me disks though... so I guess I'll rock that route.

The minimum size of a usb device needed to install Win 7 is only 4GB.Why not getting a usb device?Cheaper right?Or you could either borrow from a friend...

I hope that the flash drive that he gets is better than the one that I have, because it made my installations crawl like a snail. If I were going to do that again, I would run a HD Tune test on it before beginning. I don't think that I would let price be an issue, because one can buy some pretty good DVD burners pretty cheap these days.

EDIT: If you decided to buy a flash drive, I would get one that is ReadyBoost compatible. That way it might serve a secondary purpose.

You can pay that much here, but there are some good ones that go for <$30.

I would bet that you didn't use a Corsair Flash Voyager, like I did. There are alot of differences between flash drives.

I paid 7$ for a cheapo 4G thumb drive.
Just remember, if you go with cheapo's, (honestly, any Thumb Drive/Flash Drive, no matter how expensive or cheap) don't keep data you don't want to lose on them.

Considering the fact that so many electronics are built in those places, you would think that they would have cheaper prices than they do.
