My Dad's Logitech wireless mouse will wake up the computer from sleep, but then hangs 20-30 seconds with the Vista blue circle before it starts working.

Have tried reinstalling the MS stock driver and ticking box onPwr Mgmt tab to wake computer from sleep. Logitech's software only appears to be an updater.

Try resetting the wireless mouse.

I think the HID hardware filter is suppose to something? It shows up in windows updates. I found that updating it helps with some problems on the computer. Go to windows update, its an optional update. See if HID filter is there.

How is the mouse connected - bluetooth etc? What port is the receiver plugged into
- USB 1.1 or 2.0? What power plan is in use? Has the BIOS been checked to allow wakeup from USB mice/keyboards?

Mouse receiver is connected via USB 2.0

He is using Balanced Power plan.

To now, I've assumed BIOS is set to wake from mouse since the computer will wake from mouse, but then it hangs with Vista blue circle for 20-30 seconds every time before cursor will move.

Look in the advanced power options for any pertaining options but this might just be the mouse initializing - can you try a different mouse, preferably one with functioning 7 drivers?

Also, has the HID filter device been installed in device manager under the mouse or pointing devices category?

I have a machine that does this also gregrocker, I was using a wired USB 2.0 mouse. I have tried switching mice, but it seems like the older and slower the machine, the worse this is. I though it might have to do with the speed of the RAM and HD since the data is sitting in one or the other depending on the type of sleep he is using.

This was my conclusion and I am dealing with it....but hopefully we can find a better solution.

His previous wired mouse doesn't have this problem, I dont' think. He got this Logitech wireless mouse for Christmas and the issue has been chronic.

There is no HID filter in Dev Mgr. How do we get one?

The filter should have been installed with the mouse - does the mouse have any custom drivers?

I looked at Logitech's Support downloads and there is a Setpoint 4.8 download of 60mb. Does anyone know if this is a driver package?

In the past, this has been an updater and unneeded utilities. Guess I should have him try it to see?

Yes, if I remember it was a utility that could also remap keys or something. Try it and see - is it 7 compatible?

He installed Logitech Setpoint driver package and the wireless mouse still hangs 23-30 seconds after waking the computer up from sleep.

No HID filter driver was delivered, just replaced the MS stock HID driver with Logitech one.

Tried changing Balanced to High Performance power plan.

Any other suggestions or do you think I should take this to Vista forum since he uses Vista which i skipped.

Try a different mouse but the vistax64 forums are a good idea.
