Hello,
I want to know what you think is better:
Asus R2H, Windows 7, 1GB RAM
or
Samsung q1, Windows 7, upgraded to 2GB RAM instead of the normal 1GB RAM

Thanks

Hello,

Do you think you could provide us with links to the machines you are looking at?

Generally speaking, I typically don't recommend running Windows 7 on anything with less than 2GB of RAM. Of course, it is still possible, but I don't think you would like the performance you got after running several programs.

Just today, I answered a post, where the problem was very slow performance. The problem seemed to be the 1GB of Ram. I suggest if you are planning on Windows 7, 32 Bit, you have 2GB minimum.

Those are both tablet type PCs with very small screens. The CPUs are quite slow. I don't know what your expectations are for either unit. I'd be afraid I would be disappointed by a tablet PC regardless of how much RAM it had.

I would make it a point to play with both in a store and find out what specs it had. It may be that the extra 1 gig is a big deal or it may be that it's too slow even with 2 gigs RAM.

Agreed, and 4GB of RAM, preferably DDR3 will really make 7 move.

And I would add two SSDs in Raid0 and an i7 Extreme.

But that's not what everybody needs. If you do only a little web browsing, some mail and the occasional light office application, an Atom processor with 1GB will do the job. But if you do CAD, video editing and a lot of other fancy stuff - then see above.

With that many limitations, I still can't see the point of an Atom.

Hello,
Thanks for all your posts.
I already have a asus r2h and it runs windows 7 and works fine with the 1gb of ram.
It works better on 2gb of ram but works fine on 1gb ram.
The reason i am asking what you thing is best is the fact that i may change to another type of umpc.
I need a good quality umpc that is not to expencive.
Another umpc i like the look of is the oqo o2 but if fall short of my spec as it does not have a touch screen.
Thanks
