Like the title says, I just recently got a wire and I connect one side to my router and the other to my cpu. Im STILL getting ping spikes in games!!! Wtf is this????

Like in-game the maximum number of ping let say is 500. My normal ping would be 200-250 but I can spike to 500.

But isn't connecting from the router to the cpu the same as connecting from the modemn to the cpu? Both of them give 100 mbps right?

Was only answering your previous question. Theoretically, should be same.

I doubt the router is the issue. You should talk to your ISP about your ping times.

Yes, long cable lengths do degrade signal performance. How long is your cable? Cat5 cable is rated for cables up to 100M in length.
