I personally dont see memory usage as an issue when your system security is at stake...RAM is dirt cheap....

a good antivirus / antimalware-program like fx. a2 detects over 99% !

a2 typically detects 99,8%....

LOL that's such an easy fix, a quick google search gives you a few ways to get rid of that pain in the backside.

Yeah, i don't see why people get uptight with exactly how many MB's of RAM an application is taking. With so many people with 2GB, 4GB and even 8GB of RAM...people are concerned about 1 app which takes 14MB versus another one which takes 9.2MB...Seriously??????

Used AVG few years back. It's all good since it reported quite a number of "false postives" when i'm running a scan. Since then, i've dumped AVG. MSE for now.

AVG is a weak AV, it missed some trojans on my PC, i had to use NIS to remove them
It also has many false positives.

Interesting. I have not had a false positive with AVG. I have been running it for a month.

In the local computer club they were using AVG on all the hands-on machines (6 of them). 5 were heavily infected - apparently by people bringing in infected USB sticks and using them on those machines. We cleaned them up with MSE which is now the standard on all 6 machines.

We had a very similar problem at work, we were using AVG 5 and system starting getting slow, we did a scan with AVG and nothing was found. We removed AVG and installed PCTools 2010 and 7 bad virus was found. PCTools cleaned up everything and system is running smooth.
