New install do I need to load drivers

I have just finished loading 7 on to my Sony Vaio notebook and all went well. It will run fine but I noticed that I can't scroll up and down on my touch pad and my camera will not work. Do I need to go get drivers from Sony?

Hi and welcome

To find out what devices need drivers type device driver in search. Any device that has a yellow triangle on it needs drivers.

Let us know if you need help.

Thanks zigzag always love to find new forums.

I did what you suggested and there are two ! under other devices. Both are labeled base system device. There is no description so I have no clue what they are for. If I do an update driver it says unable to install your base system device.

My question though is a little off that though. For example my touch pad works but not like it use too. I could drag up and down the right side and it would scroll the pages for me. Now nothing happens other than as a pointer and double tapping. If I go to mouse set up there is no pad functions there to change. I know windows "makes it work" but is that the right driver or is there a specific one to get.

Without knowing what model of Vaio you have, it's hard to point you in the right direction.

Thats funny all that info and no model number... VGN-TZ285N
There is, but in the very last line, I couldn't see for looking. Try them two above and let us know if they work.

EDIT: Are you 32 or 64bit, as the touchpad driver is x64.

That will be your best bet for what Windows hasn't found a driver for, or if you have issues with the ones it has. I've attached a 64bit Alps driver, one that I use, that will give you vertical scrolling back.

I am running 64bit. So should I go down the line and find drivers for each you think?
With only 2GB of memory, wouldn't 32bit be better on it?

OK Question, should I reinstall the old op system with the drivers and all then just do an upgrade 7 32 bit? That way all the drivers stay in tact and it is a clean upgrade install.

If you clean installed 32bit, it would make things a hell of a lot easier. The general consensus here is to clean install, as upgrading does have issues, but that's not to say it doesn't work, so the choice is yours, 45mins, or a couple of hour to reinstall.
