The most ironic thing when it comes down to the name 'Google' is none of the two founders/business partners who created it ever wanted 'in-your-face' ads.. It was their main agenda if you like not to force adverts into the face of folk..
yet, here we stand, as John so rightfully stated, in a world almost impossible to avoid the so-called brand.

Don't get me wrong guys, I am definitely pro-google, My sites would be nothing without the all-mighty powerhouse that is Google. I will forever take my hat of to the internet greats that make most of what we have now and make it all possible. Tracking isn't always a bad thing, it's how the info is used against us that turns things sour.

Providing you don't do anything wrong, where is the harm towards one-self?

Its got nothing to do with being ashamed of what you are doing. Its about our privacy. As it says in the google toilet vid "this is my life, my PRIVATE life"

After reading the F*ck You, Google article on Gizmodo.com, Completly hating the way Google introduced Buzz, and recently changing my email address to email provider GMX.com for the nicer UI. I have finally pressed the button to cancel my Google account not even 15 seconds ago from within my Google Chrome web browser. Don't get me wrong, I like Google's products and a lot of other people do to BUT I didn't use Google for anything else since I closed my g-mail account.

But, the article on Gizmodo is a very,very good read and a comment on the blog said a very true statement. -

I have no idea, but Sergei and Larry [the creators of Google] do, and if he did, they own him now. You too of course, same for all the senators and congressman, one false step on line and the Google has got your number.

When a worker working for Facebook told the world that any information on Facebook can be accessed by any employee within the building, people freaked out. But, it's Facebook's server and they OWN those servers. The thought that server owners shouldn't be able to look at any data on THEIR servers is just stupid. The same thing goes for people that think Google knows to much about them. It's Google's servers and they can store what ever they want on it.

NOTE: I now need a new web browser since I used Google Chrome because it was made by Google....i was such a fanboy....

I wish more people would start moving away from googles products. Every PC i work on i warn the users of using google products and suggest free alternatives.

In the end though its up to them. If they dont care that everything they do on their pc is known by google then they can install google chrome OS, google chrome etc etc. and live in a world like this lol

I also dislike the skyware type tracking in Google Crome so I use SRWare Iron built from Crome but without the tracking SRWare Iron - The Browser of the Future

News might be outdated but their releases are newer and more often than Google Crome's

latest Chrome is 4.0.249.89 and SRWare Iron is 4.0.280, go figure

Knowing that you are being tracked, regardless of by whom, what you are doing and to what purpose that data is being used for is one thing. Liking it is another thing entirely.


The world is becoming far too increasingly blasé in regards to what constitutes 'personal privacy' and the abuse thereof.

Though I share the opinion that Google, Bing Yahoo etc. are collecting too much information about us and our online habits, I think Internet in it self has grown too much; there's not much we can do for that. That ship has sailed.

However, I'm not too concerned. I have nothing against if they see where I surf and what I search. I'm an old man, happily married to a wonderful and beautiful woman of my dreams, so I don't use / surf adult sites. I do not gamble online, I do not download illegal content.

I do never give my home address, birth date or social security number online. If a site requires this information, there's normally a phone or fax option to use instead. If not, I'll search until I find a site where I can place my order without giving the information online.

I have an alias, an "internet persona" with VoIP phone & fax numbers and email which I read with a different mail client, not using my primary client. I have an Online debit Master Card to use when I order something online, using PO Box shipping address and uploading funds to debit card only when I need to pay something online, and only the amount I need to that purchase, so I don't have to give my real credit card information online and bad guys can not use my card because the account is always empty, funded only when needed.

Google & Co: If you want to collect the information about how I use my computer, please be my guest. I don't like it but there's nothing you can find you could use against me.

If you do not want Buzz you can turn it off in Gmail, just login and go to the bottom of the page and look for "turn off buzz" note that it is in very small letters.

Don't do this.

Turning Buzz off doesn't disable the service, rather it just turns off the notifications.

Please read this article before thinking that Buzz is gone.

Not sure, but I think I am noticing some new options now for buzz. In your inbox, go to settings, click buzz, and I think those are all new options to completely delete your profile and opt out of buzz completely.

Have a look, what do you guys/gals think?
