To me this is one of the bigger ones from that press release,

Key features of ATI Catalyst graphics drivers, version 10.3, scheduled for release in March, 2010:

• Monthly updates for the mobile crowd: Starting in March, AMD plans to issue stability, performance and feature enhancements in monthly ATI Catalyst™ driver updates for Windows® 7 and Windows Vista™-based notebooks that feature ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 2000, HD 3000, HD 4000 and HD 5000 series premium graphics processors. AMD is working closely with most major notebook manufacturers to ensure broad support for this initiative.

Sounds like they have finally worked out that licensing agreement that they have had for years (Nvidia is/was in the same boat) regarding drivers for the mobility video cards. Be nice that those that have them will finally be able to get them directly from ATI instead of having to wait on the notebook manufacturer's to get them out.

Not so fast.....

Unfortunately for Sony, Toshiba and Panasonic laptop users, all three companies have opted out, meaning they won't get the latest features each month like everyone else.

I wonder if you'll be able to use the HP ATI drivers on those machines anyways, or if there will too much of a difference.

Aren't laptop users going through hoops now just to get the (PC) drivers to install/work properly!?!?

This is perhaps your solution..

The latest application profile list is posted on amd.com in a separate .exe file that users can install to get the absolute latest application profiles (that have not yet been added to the official ATI Catalyst™ release)

lol, well I didn't check it out before hand and one does live in hope.

I guess I was hoping that the 'profiles' wouldn't be such a massive disappointment in the 'official'

I'm sure there will be a 10.3 beta released shortly anyway

I kinda get the impression that you create your own profiles - first get the game/app running sweetly via the gfx settings and then save it..

I know ATI recommend that you save the default profile, so that you can always return to basics when necessary

It doesn't look the same as the NVIDIA profiles, but the effect is the same I guess - it's just a list of presets..
- you just go through the set up, then name the profile and save it - I think it appears on the desktop as an .exe icon (- or in the systray..)

- haven't used it yet, as everything looks OK on the default settings, but has anyone got sufficient experience of using this facility that might help to explain it more fully..??

Actually AMD/ATI has released an executable file that's "supposed" to have the "latest" game profiles for Crossfire users. Drivers & Support | GAME.AMD.COM

You have a point there but since I don't have a dual or crossfire setup, it really doesn't affect me.

At this point in time I wouldn't mess with a crossfire or dual card setup seeing all the issues the technology still has.

Point is I thought you were saying you haven't updated your drivers in a while, but upon further review of the version number you posted says you did a recent update, thus the Err...never mind

..don't know it's just me or the new driver, but FarCry2 and Crysis Warhead both seem to run better with this Crossfire app thingy installed..

I call it real-world testing (- totally unscientific..!!)
