I've created an NTFS partition for XP with the disk manager in Windows 7, but when I boot from my XP CD after it goes through some processes I get a blue screen of death and can't even get to the beginning of the installation. Any ideas on something I might be doing wrong?

Did you make the partition active? If not, try that.

Garrett, try installing in safe mode, click F8 repeatedly after the "press any key to boot from CD"

Tews, I think that link is broken. Wasn't it a sticky from Sulfuric? I guess it got bumped out. Can we get it back, it was very useful

Two questions, do you have the Win 7 System Reserved Partition, and do you have your drives set to use AHCI in the bios?

Hey guys sorry it took so long, but I made the partition active and got the same BSOD and then had to use my Windows 7 CD and do a startup repair to boot back into Windows because it said my bootmgr was missing. Sorry, I'm not used to posting in forums but I couldn't find a Windows\Minidump on my drive. And I tried the safe mode install, I pressed F8 after it said boot from CD but it just booted the CD normally and got the BSOD again. And the only two partitions on my drive are C: and D:. I have Windows 7 installed on C: drive and have D: drive formatted for NTFS and that's where I hope to install XP. I searched through my bios and can't find any options that say anything about drivers using AHCI.

No mine is different, it goes through loading the drivers and everything at the bottom of the screen just fine, but when it says setup is starting windows or something like that, it just blue screens. I attached a picture of the BSOD I get.

Is there anyway to do this without a floppy? I don't have a floppy drive on my laptop.
