I'm actually enjoying the game so far. Rapture may not be as mysterious as it was in the first game, but I think the interactions with the Little Sisters and the Big Sister fights make up for that.

I just wish they would hurry up and issue the widescreen fix. I could definitely use a little more FOV.

I'm also pretty surprised that my GTS 250 can run this game with everything on high over HDMI lol.

Although I didn't have an issue with the first game, so it may be the fact that I was moving from playing two 3rd person perspective games (Mass Effect 1 & 2) back to back, then moving back to a first person game.

OK, so as you see, I finished the game; obviously not what I expected. Speechless...

As for game issues, I had a few crashes where for some reason my save files kept getting corrupted or whatever. At any rate I figured out the fix by doing two things, one, deleting two files -

qs9sygnus21.bsb, and qs9sygnus21.bsh - I'm thinking these have something to do with windows live seeing that the files are in my profile name. If anyone has more info please share.



The other (final) fix was to stop using the quick save key (F12) and just hit the Esc key and do manual saves. After that no move save file crashes. Other than that, no other issues.

One thing of note, and maybe it's me, but the new ATI Catalyst 10.2 drivers seems to have done the graphics a world of good. The graphics actually looked better after updating to the 10.2 drivers.

I still have to give a big plus to the ambient sounds in the game, they are just as good as the first game, and just as creepy here as they are in Deadspace; which I contend has/had some of the best ambient sounds going.

Honestly I’m undecided on how I feel about the game. I liked it but…

The further I play through, the more I'm reminded of my first Bioshock experience.

I should have upgraded this instead of that, I should have used this style of gameplay instead of that etc

Also the FOV issue doesn't really bother me all that much.


Don't know how close I am to the end (don't want to either) but I suspect I'm getting close. Typical though, spend the majority of the game ironing out all of the bugs and just in time to finish the game

As I said in an earlier post, I didn't have high expectations for this game - visually or improved gameplay wise, but I am enjoying it enough though.

Bioshock 2 Patch through Games For Windows Live update....

Our next BioShock 2 PC Patch is due out tomorrow. You'll be able to download the patch starting at 2 AM PST on Tuesday, February 23rd. This patch is small because we focused on getting it out quickly to fix a couple high priority issues the community had, rather than roll them in to a larger patch that would take longer to reach you. We are working on a larger, more extensive patch now and as testing nears finalization I'll update you on that patch's download date.

- Fixed an issue where 16:9 and 16:10 resolutions were letterboxed versions of 4:3 resolutions, thereby properly fixing the FOV by expanding the horizontal player view as intended.
- Fixed an issue where holding the M1 button would not register in Multiplayer gameplay

the fact they fixed it again is not here nor there, its having it at launch at all. you would think they would have looked into it after doing it the first time.

After the ourcry with the original for both console and PC versions, which was fixed with a patch, it does makes you wonder why they replicated it.

Hey guys...if you haven't gotten the patch yet, or don't have an online GFWL profile, there is a workaround for the widescreen issue that makes a hell of a difference.

Go to Users/Your Name/AppData/Roaming/Bioshock2 and open up user.ini. Bind one of the unused keys to SetFOV 100 (or whatever number you want, default is 75).

I set mine to 100 with my resolution of 1920x1080, and I can see a ton more on the screen now.

I was having an issues where BS2 would crash anytime I tried to sign in to GFWL. I didn't pay $50 for a game just to not be able to play it, so I set up an offline profile and played with that. The first patch fixed the GFWL issue I was having, but if someone that was having the same issue is halfway through the game and doesn't want to install the patch yet, then this method would work for them.

Yeah I would be lying if I said GFWL didn't have issues, though the last couple of updates seems to have smoothed things out with it.

As an aside, I would always prefer GFWL over Steam. Any issues you may be having are probably related to external software - my gaming system has no applications installed, no codecs, no pdf viewer, nothing.

To counter - I've yet to have an issue with Steam.

However I do prefer to purchase hard copies of games as opposed to downloading them through Steam, or any other digital distribution method.

But the Steam based game I have work just fine, even under this fandangled system called Windows 7 x64

I agree. I would much rather have the box, instruction manual etc. in my hands, than to have a digital copy of a game. Just seems so much more...real, I guess.
