My friend, you are going to have to give us a bit more information than just "My PC Crashes"

What occurs Just before the crash, During the crash, and when did it start to happen?

New software? Hardware? Removal of Software/Hardware?

We need more info on this, good sir. I'm sure we'd be glad to help. :)

Matt~

Yes, My friend - I did - AT LENGTH in my previous posts that ALSO went unanswered.

HOWEVER, to help move this along, I will give you everything:

The computer was custom built about 2 years ago. Since then much of it has been upgraded. I will try to add dates as I go

Soprano RS Case -(ORIGINAL - 2 YRS)
OCZ 700Watt Power supply (ORIG)
MOBO (new 2 weeks ago) - Gigabyte MA790X-UDP4
Chip - AMD Phenom4 - 9850 (ORIG)
RAM - 8 GB (ORIG) -RECENT TEST SHOWED ALL 4 TO BE FINE.
VIDEO (I have tried 2 different boards - at present NVIDIA GeForce 7300GT
HARD DRIVES - I have 4 but, at present, only 3 are hooked up - 2 WESTERN DIGITAL 320 GB SATA DRIVES AND 1 TBYTE DRIVE. THE 2 WD ARE OLDER, THE 1 TBYTE IS NEW)
CD drive - Pioneer DVD-RW (although it has not been working as a DVD write drive for a while.
USB wireless keyboard and wireless mouse duo Microsoft (ORIG)
AUDIO - RME HAmmerfall Multiface II (ORIG)
VIDEO DISPLAY - 32" VIZIO LCD TV (1 YEAR)

BIOS SETTINGS:

IDE channel 0 maste - pioneer dvd-rw
ide channel 0 slave - none
IDE CHANNEL 1 MASTER - NONE
IDE CHANNEL 1 SLAVE - NONE
IDE CHANNEL 2 MASTER - WDC -WD3200AAKS-OOB3A (SYSTEM DRIVE)
IDE CHANNEL 2 SLAVE - WDC-WD3200AAKS-22SBA
IDE CHANNEL 3 MASTER - ST31000528AS
ALL THE REST OF THE IDEAS ARE "NONE"

DRIVE A: 1.44m 3.5"
FLOPPY 3 MODE SUPPORT - DISABLED

HALT ON (ALL BUT KEYBOARD)

SOFTWARE: WINDOWS 7 64 BIT
FIREFOX BROWSER (LATEST)
RME AUDIO DRIVERS FOR WIN 7
COREL VIDEO STUDIO 12 - WIN 7 COMPATIBLE
DVDFAB 6
NERO 9
PC PITSTOP OPTIMIZE 3.0
TREND MICRO INTERNET SECURITY PRO
vIDEOlan vlc vIDEO PLAYER
WINDOWS DEFENDER

NOTE - I FINALLY GOT IT STARTED IN SAFE MODE BUT THE WINDOWS SECURITY CENTER SERVICE CAN'T BE STARTED.

THE LAST THREE TIMES I TRIED TO DO A SYSTEM RESTORE, THE COMPUTER CRASHED AS SOON AS IT STARTED.

PRESENTLY - IN THE DEVICE MANAGER, I HAVE TWO YELLOW EXCLAMATION MARKS - BOTH ON THE FIRST TWO HID COMPLIANT CONSUMER CONTROL DEVICES. I AM NOT SURE WHAT THOSE ARE.
1 MORE THING - I noticed that, when I went into the BIOS today, that the onboard audio was enabled. I had disabled it earlier because I am using the RME card.

AND FINALLY - After I finished the last sentence, I tried to reboot the computer by logging out of safe mode and restarting - as it was shutting down, the screen went black and not I am typing on this computer, looking at the black sceen of the other computer, which, by the way, is still running with no video.

This does, very much, suck.

PLEASE - PLEASE answer this. Thi sis the third time I am posting for help.

Two Questions:

Is entering 'Safe Mode' a definite thing? (I.E. Works everytime)

When did this start happening? Just after a hardware/Software install? Is it possible that this could be the work of a number of viruses? (Not saying you HAD viruses on the machine, just making sure that is ruled out.)

Get back to me, I'll help as much as I can.

Not all the time - sometimes not even safe mode works, it just crashes.

OK - I have run my Trend Micro virus scan and found 5 cookies -

Cookie_Zedo
Cookie_YeildManager
Cookie_2o7
Cookie_FastClick
Cookie_DoubleClick

They are now deleted.

I will run spyware and get back.

ONE MORE THING. When I leave the computer off overnight, then come back, it will always starts normally. I remember when I replacved the MOBO that I cleaned off the CPU and then added the new gel, but I may nothave taken the old gel off the fan. Could this cause problems?

The old paste "SHOULDN"T" cause a problem unless it was dried out, but you should always remove the old paste.

So no major Viruses it seems. All overnight? Could this be a connectivity issue? When the MOBO and other parts warm up...could they be re-connecting?

I severly doubt it, but I'm throwing every option at you :(

When safe mode does NOT work, the result is the same as it is in normal operation:

1. I start Windows
2. Get to the login screen (I use a password to log in)
3. enter my password and hit OK
4. BADABING - blue screen with "no signal" on video screen.

Could it simply be the hard drive is bad??

While waiting for your answer, I decided to reinstall windows with a completely NEW hard drive. I figured that there may have been something wrong with the hard drive that had been refiormatted for use with the new Windows7 program.

After CAREFULLY installing the hard drive, I started installing Windows. The files went on and, at the first reboot windows had to do to continue to install win 7, the video once again crashed.

Can I possibly have a bad MOBO?

I've tried reading through your post's and unfortunately a lot of the information you give is incomplete, through no fault of your own but if we are going to help you it might work better if you supply information as asked and we can systematically debug your issue ?

If that's ok with you could we start with ;- running the windows 7 upgrade advisor to check your hardware compatibility ?

Then to give us full system info please download and run the free version of SIW and click file save as HTML report and upload here ?

Can you also go here for how to set up minidumps shown here then zip and upload any .dmp files here for us to run through windows debugger ?

I will be glad to do so - IF i can get my computer to run long enough., Right now it is simply not getting past the start screen; however, I will return the old hard drive to the computer and try.

Have you booted to and run Memtest? This sounds like a hardware issue to me. Also check the cpu temp in the bios.

I read that you read through my posts, but then you asked me to run programs that do not run under safe mode, so I guess you missed a few of my posts. I understand, you have a ;lot to rad in any given day. This has been very frustrating. now I have to bring the thing into a shop.

I do not remember exactly when, but before upgrading my computer I did run the Windows 7 advisor and it checked out.

SO - I know that this may seem simplistic, but:

1. I have tried 2 different Video cards
2. Tried installing on a completely new hard drive
2. Unhooked everything from the motherboard except the system drive, and video card

And nothing works.

Might it be safe to say it is actually the motherboard?

OK - I puled out all but one RAM and -FOR THE FIRST TIME IN DAYS - got into the regular windows. NOW I will run the tests you suggested.

I feel a little better, although I am still apprehensive.

Once it booted, the computer told me it had to reboot, so I am waiting through that.

PLEASE - hang around here for a few minutes as I run the tests and get back to you

OK - so far no problems with 1 stick of RAM (2 GB) but I can't run my programs on less than 8. I guess we will figure out that later.

I have attached the SIW file and ran Windows 7 upgrade adviser - it said everything was fine. I am going to reattach the other hard drives, one at a time and see if they all meet the requirements. THEN I guess I can add RAM one stick at a time. Hopefully I will hear from you guys by then

Have you tried to have only 4 gig in ? Some Mobo will not like having 8 gig, specially if you are connected with a 4-pin mobo header.

What kind of program do you have that require more than 4 gig anyway ? Unless you do profesionnal video editing or heavy graphics programming you should not need 8 gig.

My 2¢...

Try boosting your MCH Core (in BIOS) from 1.100V to 1.160V. Sometimes Gigabyte MBs don't handle 8gigs of RAM and Windows 7 together well at all... perhaps the way 7 uses RAM is different than XP.

I have a Gigabyte MB too, and I couldn't leave the MCH Core on auto... I'd get BSODs all day.
