Hmmmm...interesting...no complaints though.:D

-----------------------------------------------------------
EDIT

Checked your sys specs (OP, I mean), your system is not the cheapest one. Please understand my point is just to tell my opinion, not advice or criticize, but would't cost of Seven be only a fraction what you have already invested on your rig?

Bi-hourly Windows 7 RC shutdown begins | News | TechRadar UK

I'd upgrade your CPU - these old Athlons are superseded before you clean install 7.

Thanks for the link but i was aware march 1 being when they begin, i was more wondering why i haven't experienced a shutdown yet.

As for the cpu, in order to make a upgrade thats worthwhile, i would need to fork over a couple large ones for a new mobo and quite possibly RAM on top of a new RTM Windows 7 Ultimate. My funds depend on what season it is as I am a teenager and I work a seasonal job.:)

OEM copies are cheap. I picked up a 7 Home Premium x64 version for 120 US roughly over here. The computer I'm installing it on isn't worth a copy of Ultimate - its got a G33 chipset - :o

The vast majority of people don't typically have the need for Ultimate either...even with a powerhouse computer. Might make better sense for some to put that cash towards some hardware upgrades which might really make a difference rather than investing in the OS that can join a domain, have multiple language packs or use Bitlocker. I really hate that Microsoft chose the word Ultimate for these versions....because it just comes with the connotation that it's clearly superior and the best thing you can get with respect for Windows 7....but for many who make the investment to be safe rather than sorry...I don't think many use the features of Ultimate.

Heck, I only run Windows 7 on one computer in my house. The benefits of Windows 7 don't justify the cost to upgrade the other computers (ducks and puts up shielding). :) Kidding aside though, I just cannot see spending 3 or 4 times the license cost to run on all of my computers. 1 good computer running 7 is enough, I can live with Vista, XP and Linux on my other boxes pretty easily.

Don't get me wrong, i don't dislike 7 at all. I've loved it on my main box, ran the beta, RC1 and now the full retail release. But on my wife's laptop, Vista is fine...so I don't see myself getting $109 worth of value out of an upgrade. My server runs a server based OS, and my 2 lab/test boxes run Ubuntu and can boot into a legal XP that I have for them. No need to run 7 there as I mostly use them with Ubuntu and when I want Windows...I want my fast box anyway..... Guess it just comes down to where I want to spend money, and with lots of other interests and kids...i've got to make some decisions and sacrifice somewhere.

Fair enough, but I like having 7 all around. Only an old laptop has Ubuntu - 1GB of RAM, and I can't be bothered upgrading that or use it often. Better to build a new laptop myself.
